There's a subtle exhaustion in Scarlet's eyes as he explains the town to their newest recruit, Marsh, for what feels like the tenth time.
"It's nice here," he says. "We all work together to..." he pauses, spacing out for a moment, "make our town the best it can be." They ask him a question. He does not hear it. "What was that?" he asks. It's the third time he's missed a question they've asked. They shake their head agitatedly. "I said, wasn't there supposed to be another dragon here? You said before there's another leader." "Oh." Scarlet says. "My..." he breaks eye contact, "my wife. She'll... be back later tonight." He forces a smile, "she's out scouting the forest, making sure no baddies are coming to get us. Thanks to her we're safe here. Very safe." Marsh looks unconvinced. "If you say so." Scarlet keeps smiling. "Don't worry. I don't think anything could hurt us in this forest." -- Scarlet does his best to keep his village together, through thick and thin. He takes care of town-wide issues and is a jack-of-all-trades, able to help villagers with most of their different tasks. On a good day, that's what he's usually found doing. Interpersonal communication is where he often fails, having a hard time reading another dragon's intentions or understanding what they really want from him. He gets quite frustrated when he's misunderstood, and has a hard time explaining himself. He has an unwavering loyalty to the forest and his village above anything else, and is very invested in the future of both. He tends to feel like he knows what's best for the village above everyone else, which can lead to strain in his personal relationships, but he tries to correct his mistakes when he makes them. |
