A defector hoping not to follow in their mother's footsteps finds safety among those hurt by her. |

Dewberry She/They Defector Neutral Good |
Narrative & Personality
The forest village had been more accepting to Dewberry than she ever thought they'd be- than she thought she deserved. Though the others had no idea, she'd originally been part of the operation to keep them there for power.
It was the rational yet calm voice of Cobalt who made her decide she couldn't stand to hurt other dragons. Cobalt had found Dewberry spying on them, but instead of the accusatory words and angry glares that Dewberry had expected, the words she would have gotten from her mother, she got concern and a worried frown. Apparently, Dewberry hadn't realized how hungry she was, and it was showing. She didn't even think dragons could get hungry in this place, but she later wondered if it was surplus of her mother's stolen magic that made her unaware of her own needs. It had been a hard choice to make, to choose what had felt like safety to rely on a bunch of strangers she'd been told were worse than them. But as Dewberry curled against Cobalt's side to go to sleep, she knew she'd made the right choice. Dewberry comes from the underground veilspun den run by her matriarchal mother. The least favorite of her children, Dewberry was always left by the wayside, and because of this neglect she began to branch out away from her mother's shadow as an adult and learn outside of her. She still craves her mother's love, but knows she won't get it. Cobalt was the first she talked to outside of her family, and Dewberry still views her as the kindest, though she's branched out into enjoying the company of Scarlet and, when they can find her, Tangerine. The village has been wholly kind to her, though her lingering guild makes it difficult to get close to any of them. Dewberry attempts to be overwhelmingly kind where she can be, trying to make up for her wrong upbringing. She's soft and withdrawn, preferring to help work in the background than to be the one gathering others for their duties. Her small stature makes her ideal for tasks of dexterity, and she's happy to have a job in the village doing whatever is needed of her day to day. She knows her mother wants to take her back, but she hopes the others will protect her when the day comes. And she knows the day her mother's reign of terror ends will be soon... |
