 Personality: Pitch is a cool, confident dragon. The sort of person who other people meet and assume is an amazing, byronic genius, utterly unflappable and competent at everything. A lot of this, however, is a facade he's carefully cultivated since childhood to keep bullies off of his pretty purple tailfeathers. If you can get to know him well, under the act he's a massive dork, excitable and eager to please. He doesn't have a lot of close friends (mostly admirers of his good looks who assume he's way too cool for them) so he values those who he does connect with.

History: Pitch was one of the rare cases where when someone tells you growing up "just don't get upset at the bullies and they'll leave you alone" actually ended up working out. He often got teased as a kid for being a shadow dragon with the ultimate mark of the Shadowbinder's grace (goopy primal eyes), but wildly unfitting pastel pink scales. What kind of shadow dragon is pretty posy pink? Pitch was furious and humiliated, often begging his parents when he came home from being out with the other hatchlings to get him a scatterscroll. His father insisted, however, that he didn't need to be embarrassed. That he should stand tall and proud of himself, and not let the words of the others get to him. If he didn't get upset, they would get bored and leave him alone.

Pitch decided he didn't have much to lose, and took his father's advice to heart. He dressed himself up in lace and flowers and ribbons, polished his opal markings until they shone, and made himself as pretty and un-shadowy as possible. Then when the teasing cranked up in response to his frilly new look, he played it up. Acted as sweet and polite and un-shadowy as he could. It weirded out some of the bullies, who withdrew from him out of discomfort, and annoyed others, who couldn't figure out why he wasn't getting angry with them. They didn't all stop; not at first. But enough got bored to make his life more bearable.

And when he became a teenager, the pretty primping had the unintended side effect of gaining Pitch a lot of attention from both boys and girls. His newfound popularity ended the last of the teasing, and by the time he left his clan as an adult Pitch was a confident, well adjusted young wildclaw.

Though he lives among Clan Brayuh and pays them rent for his own home in their caves, he doesn't really consider himself a member of the clan. Pitch is an paleontologist, studying the ancient life forms from the first, second, and third ages that have long since gone extinct. He believes that he might find preserved specimens in the glacier that Clan Brayuh calls home, and is working with some of the clan's tunnelers to explore deeper into the ice to find them.
