Biography
Queen stared at Rune as he nudged the eggs to rotate them. The Consciousness tilted her head to the side before trilling a bit at him.
"I do not understand why you are such a fuss with that nest," she told him.
Rune stared at Queen before going to push one with his paw to place it back with the other two eggs. "I'm taking care of them. Making sure they don't crack or break." He moved to wrap himself around the eggs, wings flaring, as they covered them. "I keep them warm when it is cold. I uncover them when it is too warm."
"And, why is that one moving?"
To say that Queen didn't know much about eggs and child rearing is an understatement -- she knew nothing about the pups that were born from fragile things such as eggs. She let Rune do all the work for the nest. She didn't seem to have an attachment to them despite being the one to bear the eggs in the first place. She had a gross curiosity about having children with a dragon that bore the appearance of her (and many others') drones. Would that have an effect on their children? Would they turn out to be like her? She had tried to assimilate Rune at least twice before; however, none of her assimilation drones would touch him. She watched the egg move once again.
"One is mov --" Rune paused before he tucked his wings near his body to watch one of the eggs move before it cracked. "Oh, it's hatching."
The crack splintered before the eggshell broke. A small, feathery head popped out of it. The baby Skydancer yawned before making a noise as the egg tumbled to its side. Rune made quick work of the rest of the shell before nudging the baby to gain its attention. Blue eyes stared at him. There was something behind those blue eyes that Rune nor Queen could quite grasp or comprehend. What was to become of their child? Queen moved to sniff the pup before snorting then walking away from the nest. They would have to grow for her to watch them. The Consciousness stopped walking before she laughed a bit.
"I wonder if the other Hives would like to help me with my little experiment," she purred before trotting off to gain contact with them.
