The Black Depths

Xonec was raised in the Clan of Singing Blood by Siekte and Putridus before they were drawn out into the world. The Black Depths is where this child of the High Priestess to the Plaguebringer spent most of their time. They crawled through the dark or sat at their mother's side as she brewed both cures and diseases from the streams pouring out of the wyrmwound and flowing through the worn tunnels. They listened and learned from her, and may have made occasional mischief, sneaking out while the priestess was too deep in meditations to notice.

The tunnels were connected to both the Inner Keep, where the council and the clan's most powerful and noble dragons resided, as well as to Clifftown under the Bonestrewn Crest, where all manner of plague dragon and traveler gathered, so there was always plenty to see and hear and learn about. The tunnels themselves could be perilous, however, and not all the dragons who traversed them made it safely from one side to the other, not even the children of Seikte.

The children who crawled through the depths all grew up coated in black slime. It never would clean off; it seemed to seep from their own scales. It was a claim which the ancient tunnels made upon all of them, and they are easily recognized by dragons in the territory by the slick Touch of Black.
