Cailleach

Cailleach (or Beira as she sometimes referrs to herself) is a very elusive and some might say sinister dragon. Though she looks deciptively young, her voice carries the old, withered tones of a hag. Roots and thorny vines bind her limbs in a stranglehold, so submerged in her flesh as to seem part of it. Blood red roses grow from those vines, their strong scent sickly sweet. Moss, leaves and glowing fungus grows vigorously from her back, shedding luminous spores that waft away in the wind, at times looking like flowing ribbons or gnarled grasping hands.

There are few things known about her and much speculation. No one knows where she came from or (some say) what she even is. There are tales of her being a dryad cursed into dragon form, or a restless tree spirit posessing the dead.


What is known is that she kind and cruel in equal measure, willing and able to create the most horrifying poisons as well as miraculous medicines, paid for in precious mementos. She is also impossible to find by most, for she only appears to those consumed utterly by grief, fear, or hatred.
