B I O G R A P H Y


______ Born a lithe, bright little ball of claws, scales and wings, Makin was among the first of hatchlings born to their parents to bear her father’s new shape of a Wildclaw. Her dark colouring resembled her eldest brother, the first, Maximus, as did her fierce temper. Her mother praised her for her ambition, and her father for her curiosity. From the moment she hatched, Makin was half the clan’s little princess.

______ But the truth of it was that less than half the clan followed her mother - not enough to initiate a return to the wind-blown lands of her mother’s heart. Makin loves the snowbound mountains she was born into, and the changes that happen to a dragon’s body after adolescence mean that none who have lived here for more than a couple of years can ever descend from their mountains. Sometimes, she envies her sisters, gone before true memories could be made with them, but free, free to roam the world and go wheresoever they please.

______ She spends much of her time with her mother's small army, training, preparing, and readying for battle with enemies who never come. In between, she loves resting by the feet of the visitors from other lands, listening to their tales of places she has never and will never see. She dreams of the volcanoes and lava-drenched streams of the Flamecaller’s domain, and spins tales about the Tidewarden’s disappearance, woven from scraps overheard in hushed whispers in the night. She builds snow castles designed to look like the Lightweaver’s ruins, and tells stories to the hatchlings about their ancestral home The Twisting Crescendo.

______ Over time, Makin began to wish to contribute more to her clan than simply leading their army. She got in several arguments with her mother, pointing out futilely that no enemies ever came for the army to fight, and even going so far as to speak with her brother Arany about the possibility of uniting the two divided clans of Makina and Ghiaccia. In the end, Makin was forced to lie low for several months while her mother got over the most of her fury, and when she returned, she found she had a little brother, Kehar, and a mate chosen for her, Komar's grandson Yaduraj. Although not entirely pleased by this turn of events, she agreed to these plans docilely, not willing to risk another fight breaking out. To her great delight, Yaduraj, she discovered, agreed with her view of this civil war being entirely unnecessary. The pair of them now scheme together. Maybe, someday, this war can finally end...
