B I O G R A P H Y

______ For generations, The Icebound has been suspended in a cold struggle between leaders. Sharp, cold Ghiaccia, who freed the clan from a tyrant’s rule, and led them all to freedom in the icy reaches of The Fortress of Ends, only to learn their new land changed them all, warped and shifted their bodies so that while they all lived free, once grown, they could never leave. In the midst of the confusion over this discovery came Makina, the founder of their clan, returned from her time searching for The Windsinger. She was horrified to find her once breezy clan now grown dark and cold in the shivering chill of The Icewarden’s lands. Though she lost her fight to return, she drew her own following to her, like-minded friends and family bound by the ropes of kinship to support her.

______ Not all stayed with her, of course. The Mirror pack, though they loved their windy homeland, loved the sharp fury of the icy land more, loved the thrill of the cold and the hunt, and so they stayed with Ghiaccia. Makina’s own son, Arany, with his scales of ice and wings tipped with gold, drew away from his mother’s side, and fell in with Ghiaccia’s daughter, Cerillia, and so enraged his mother. Sometime later, when Makina’s daughter Makin also began to seek to mend the split between the tribe, Makina, frantic with worry over losing more of her family to what she saw as Ghiaccia’s wiles, trapped her in an arranged mating with Komar’s grandson, Yaduraj. Though unwilling at first, Makin and Yaduraj quickly formed an alliance, and raised their first daughter, Faethe in their secret rebellion.

______ Sometime later, Nayru was born. Though originally destined for service under The Icewarden, her parents kept and raised her in secret. When she was old enough to survive away from her mother, they sent her to live with her uncle Arany, under the care of Ghiaccia’s frozen might. There, she grew and learned what it was like to live on the loyally Ice side of the clan. She works in the forge, melting and binding precious metals to create beautiful things.

______ Along with her sister, Faethe and Nayru are two sides of the same coin. One raised in Wind, the other in Ice. Grown in hardship and adversity to learn everything there is to learn; the hope is that one day, the two sisters will reunite, and bring the clan along with them.
