Biography
a stalwart heart, succumbing to a disease.
to protect and to save is a venerable thing, is it not?
this is something that the guardian has known to be true for their entire life. for as long as their memory reaches, they've known nothing more than a simple truth - ones who are strong must protect those who cannot protect themselves.
there are so many things they have defended others from. thievery, wild beasts, and those of their own kind. monsters of all shapes and sizes, they have faced, and they have torn apart. they have received countless praises and thanks, and words of endless gratitude. to many, they are a hero. to most, they are a guardian.
but they cannot save everyone from everything, they have learned.
there was a day where they, once, bore a family. but this is the case no longer. a journey they had endured and returned home to ended in tragedy when a disease had stricken them that ended in their death, one that they had mourned and grieved for oh so long. and, as if that anguish was not pain enough, that same disease had claimed them as well.
there is no cure.
but this never did stop them.
they locked away their suffering within their heart, and in turn, they bore witness to figments. images of something else - a monster, they had thought, and a strange being guiding them forth. one they had never seen before, but one that felt familiar, in a sense. it was then that they had realized that, perhaps, there may be more to this disease that than they had first known. there may truly be a cure waiting in these lands they call home...
... but they do not know if they will live to see it.
