Biography

linnaeus almog
he/him | bisexual | craftsdragon | winemaker

|| Background
Linnaeus' hatching clan was a tiny little affair tucked away in the Snowsquall Tundra, close to the Frigid Floes. The miniscule clan made their living farming the harsh tundra for what little plant life could survive in the cold. This meant that the young Linnaeus grew up around plants and farming, playing with his younger sister through the fields that supported their lifestyle. He was thusly invested in botany from the very beginning, and especially in what could be done with the food they produced.

The young Linnaeus eagerly helped his parents cook at the end of the day, and they quickly passed on the task to him entirely, discovering that he was quite a gourmet in his own right. He loved cooking and making food, but one day when he was older he accompanied the clan trademaster to a neighboring, larger clan with a market to sell, and his life changed forever. Given free range, Linnaeus ended up discovering a stall selling fine wines imported from other flights, and he immediately fell in love with the beverage.

His obsession with wine soon became a genuine devotion. He tried making wine with the fruit grown on his clan's farm, but their tiny fields were not suitable for much more than sloe berries and a few hardy apples that could only make a passable cider. Linnaeus wanted to be a great winemaker, someone truly skilled, and it became evident that the Southern Icefield simply could not sustain his vinery goals. All grown up and head full of dreams, Linnaeus gathered his meager savings and said goodbye to his family, setting off for the Starfall Isles, where the warmer climate could support healthy fruit.

His journey led him to Rara Avis, which was recently prospering after the creation of its mines and had its own healthy gardens. Linnaeus stayed briefly at The Golden Rose organizing for a vineyard to be set up before deciding to settle down there. In the midst of his new business, the Red Feather Winery, a new dragon took up residence in Rara Avis, an Imperial bard named Seren, and it didn't take long for the two to become friends.

Linnaeus' feelings for Seren quickly blossomed into a deep love, one that was mutual. They courted for a few years before being wed to great ceremony on the Starstone. Their wedding was followed up by several nests the two hatched together, and their children spread across Sornieth, raised in Rara Avis to go on to many other clans.

|| Current
Linnaeus is a jolly soul who loves his life and his work, always ready to give a cheerful word or a well-meaning joke. His vineyard became truly successful, and Red Feather wine proved to be a real asset to Rara Avis as well as a genuine quality product. He's always trying to improve his recipe, however, and The Golden Rose— where he works and sells his wine— always has a few strange bottles of a new recipe shoved in the back from his innovations.

A true romantic, Linnaeus is almost sickeningly devoted to his wife, and she is the same in turn. They are by far the most sappy pair in the clan, and as gifted parents they keep tabs on all of their children and send frequent care packages to every one. Nothing makes Linnaeus happier than listening to Seren's music while he works, or spending time with her in their den. His life is good, and he is more than happy right where he is, with the love of his life by his side.

|| Notes
◈ Linnaeus' younger sister left the clan far before he did, and after he left his parents got a divorce and both took several partners after. He is close to none of his half-siblings, although he would be welcoming if they ever met.
◈ He came out as male when he was a teenager, something that was wholeheartedly supported by his parents and clan.
◈ Aquariel is his familiar, but most people are unaware of this. He met her during his trip to the Isles, as he came in on ship, and they ended up becoming friends. She actually still lives in the ocean, and as she lives alone, Aquariel comes to visit Linnaeus every few weeks at the local shore.
◈ Linnaeus is in his early fifties.
◈ Still a talented cook, Linnaeus often takes up the mantle of chef while he works at The Golden Rose. He also frequently cooks for his wife, who is notoriously bad at it.
◈ As he takes up space in the Crater Gardens, Linnaeus is very familiar with Amaranth, the clan herbalist, and the two are friends. He works together with them often.
