he/him | steam-powered cyborg diplomat
benitoite is an... i'd say about 75% robot 25% dragon amalgamate, one of slate's first serious mechanical projects, and his main function was to be a diplomat, of sorts. someone who could mediate, make sound decisions, and to, possibly even, get slate out of trouble.

the only problem is that benitoite is so, so, so bad at his job. like, ridiculously bad at it. he'll pick fights with literally anything that moves for so much as breathing in his direction. and he's exactly like you'd imagine: a very large and very angry housecat writhing and clawing in a stronger dragon's grip.

he's so damned lucky that malue seems to have grown a bizarrely intense attachment to the poor guy, or he would've probably been trashed by slate himself in a fit of rage.

but hey, he's not all bad! benitoite, if nothing else, offers something invaluable: heat. dude is like a living furnace. slate tolerates his existence only for the fact that he makes sure all their talons don't freeze off.

and boy. trust me. he will not let anyone forget that.
