Somewhere. No, he doesn't remember where. Neither would you.

He remembers being showered with praise and adoration by immense - faceless - crowds, rescuing various desperate someones in distress no matter the danger to himself. He has nothing left of those days beyond those glimpses of memories and he grasps each one desperately, whenever they appear. After wandering Sornieth for years aimlessly chasing those glimpses, Echeveria and Sempervivum - the only dragon he can remember - ended up in Dragonblight lands and Echeveria decided to see if clan life could jog his memory, or at least take advantage of how many dragons pass through there on their travels to see if anyone else recognised him. So far, nobody has and no new memories have shown themselves, and even the ones he has are beginning to fade again.

He doesn't remember what happened, who he was or why he forgot. For a time he was sure Semper knew everything, but he would not say, no matter how Echeveria begged and even demanded of him. Eventually, Semper admitted that he had no idea what happened either, but he promised he would never abandon him regardless.

One night they fell asleep on opposite sides of their shared space and woke up curled together, but the next Semper seemed surprised that he even had to share his space to begin with. Semper would come close to him but reject him in the same moment, looking dazed and confused, like he never approached him at all.

It seems the dragon who remembered him, and who made him that promise, only reappears whenever they fight each other. But Echevaria would rather Semper forgot him entirely, if hurting him was the only way to keep him close.
