The clothing adorning Volt's body is supposed to help channel the electricity so it doesn't go haywire, but even that can only do so much. All Jewelry Box Fae contain large reserves of magic, but Volt's latent magic levels are through the roof. Lightning is constantly leaking out of him through his eyes, and simply brushing against his metallic hide makes it immediately apparent that his metal body is also very much live with electricity. Researchers keep a constant monitor on Volt's magic levels to see if the constant lightning leakage depletes his magic reserves, and to study what happens to Jewelry Box Fae as their magic depletes. But the amount of magic held within Volt's tiny body is seriously insane, so it will be a long time before that happens. At least Volt himself is very docile and almost entirely motionless; it makes it easy to keep him away from anywhere his high-power electric outcharge could become dangerous.
