The Poisoner

There is an herb that will help with that.

A shooting star...

Vermouth is part of the front line against the Arcane warp that followed the meteor's course. Unfortunately, despite his skill, his reputation for experimenting on dragons has disposed some of the clan to refuse his draughts, which work faster than Ykkerekk's. As such, he spend more of his time cleansing the land of unwanted bits of Arcane energy, though his natural venom is not as good as Ykkerekk's magic at this.

*

As the burden of cleansing the clan has lifted, Vermouth has been able to spend more time with the few dragons who trust him.

*

Vermouth has met Greenskeeper Gathering with typical eagerness and a great deal of relief. As his patients permit, he has slipped away to the few festivities in Fire Flight, though he dares not go farther afield.

Do you need a poison? Something to get you relaxed? Just alcohol? Vermouth has you covered. His Nature magic allows him to create a wide variety of chemical intoxicants and venoms directly, and he maintains an herb garden to supply further. While he doesn't generally create anything deadly to dragons or beastkin—you might as well just stab whoever you're after, he reasons, without getting him involved—his services are quite useful when one wishes to keep someone restrained, rid one's den of silverfish, seek visions, or purge parasites picked up in one's journeys. He is one of the dragons who most desires a return to the lawless days of the Rogue's Camp, and if the opportunity is offered he will leap at it.

While outwardly helpful, Vermouth has an unpleasantly self-interested streak. He experiments freely with alchemy to modify himself and his clanmates as he sees fit. While loath to share his views, he is firmly convinced that Gladekeeper is no kinder a figure than Plaguebringer. To him, Nature is a battle between strangler fig and kudzu for light and room to grow, to seek out fertile niches and conquer them. An eager learner, he constantly and studiously adds new tools and techniques as he finds them, especially now that he is no longer hampered by tundra forgetfulness.

Vermouth spends most of his time in his herb garden with his igueel companion. He is probably closest with Beebalm, as their gardens overlap, and the wildclaw is rather oblivious to his nasty side. While Glynn detests and mistrusts him, she remains a customer of his for various entheogens—though more reluctantly and rarely than before.

Craft
Vermouth concocts many potions that form the bulk of his sale goods, but is also a useful source for pigments and stains for various materials. Aside from his garden, he doesn't make much tangible himself.

Physical description
Vermouth is a somewhat small, powerfully-built spiral with proportionately long, pointed wings. He is still capable of moving almost silently, and can rapidly appear with a snap of wings like some elemental of toxic smoke. His scent is confusingly prone to shifting around, depending on what toxins he has been generating and what herbs he has been working with, but has a harsh undertone that grows more pronounced the hotter the temperature.

Combat
With every fairly-weak clawstrike soaked in natural or artificial venom, it is difficult to classify Vermouth as strictly a magical or physical fighter. While an enthusiastic fighter, he has yet to find a team that will work with his odd hours.

7684.png
Origin
Vermouth hails from a longstanding ally of the shattered Cindercone Clan, Northslope Clan. Originally sent as a form of aid, he found the Rogue's Camp to his liking, and settled in despite his inability to do anything for the rest of the clan. He quickly evolved into the position of the purveyor of reagents.

735.png
Kin
Vermouth is the son of Gruit, a spiral who briefly dwelled in the Rogue's Camp, and Absinthe, a wandering tundra from Lightning. A cadre of his relatives form the exotic and dangerous Poison Glen, Nature dragons armed with dangerous natural venoms.

He is also the uncle of the presumed-dead Apitoxin, and rather saddened that his venomous relative has departed—not that he would let anyone else know that.

Familiar
Gunk is a nasty, venomous creature that Vermouth has a deep bond to. She lurks in the dark corners of his herb garden, drooling a foul sludge of toxins and smirking. She feeds on a variety of toxic mushrooms and herbs and noxious insects, supplemented with fish and marine worms. Now Awakened, she insults anyone who comes by in a croaking voice, and intentionally helps create fertilizers and pesticides for the herb garden.

*

Older, larger, and wiser than most igueels, Gunk has officially passed into Matriarch-hood. She is slowly adjusting to her new rank, largely by becoming something of a tyrant to the igueels that come ashore at the Blackrock Strand.
