Denye

Denye really didn’t want to do it. When Shade had come barreling up to Seafire, saying that a dragon had been run through by a poker, she felt worse. Now, Brandir was laying in the center, with dragons swarming around him, trying to get some sort of response from his lifeless form. Denye pushed through the crowd, shoving a hatchling a hatchling off her tail. She dropped to Brandir’s side and gently poked him. To her surprise, his eyes fluttered open.
“Brandir, say something.” Denye sobbed, tears dripping down her face. Brandir smiled weakly.
“My wing hurts.”
“I know, someone stabbed you” Seafire said, pushing Denye and a few others out of her way. “We’ve got a healer coming down, just stay with us.” Seafire turned to the others, and clicked her talons together. “Everyone move out!”
Denye turned and started to leave with the others, when Seafire grabbed her.
“Denye, I need you to stay. Brandir responded to you first.”
“I can’t “ Denye cried, pulling away from Seafire’s grasp and leaping into the sky. She pumped her wings, soaring away from Brandir and Seafire. She could hear shouting and the rustle of wings coming after her. There was only one other dragon that could keep up her.
Ravenfeather.
Denye turned to confront Raven. The younger dragon looked surprised when Denye crashed into her.
“STop. we don’t havetah do this!” Raven yelped, trying to push her off. Denye started to claw at Ravenfeather, tearing fur and skin. The younger Skydancer tried to escape, but Denye could feel the crazy coming on, and she relished it.
“I stabbed him, yess, yes I did.” Denye cackled, dropping Ravenfeather’s broken body.
“RAVEN!” Opal cried, shooting up to catch the dark dragon.
The Skydancer’s yell jolted Denye out of her crazy spell, and she fled.
