Choji is a shinobi from Konohagakure and the only son of the head of the Akimichi-Clan.
Choji is not very self-confident, especially about his looks and abilities. When he was young he was bullied by other children for not being good at sportive games. Shikamaru was his best friend since both of them were little children as Shikamaru never had any prejudice, stood up for him and just enjoyed spending time together with Choji. They were often seen on roofs eating chips and watching the clouds.
Choji became part of Genin-Team 10 with Shikamaru and Ino. Although all three of them had very different personalities, they worked well together – probably because their fathers were known to have a good connection, too.

Although Choji was not very confident in his own strength he showed to be extremely strong, especially when he got angry. He was known to get very angry if someone called him fat or insulted his friends and teammates.
As part of the Akimichi-Clan he is able to enlarge parts of his body like arms and legs, to further strengthen his Taijutus-abilities. He can also use his chakra to manifest butterfly-wings on his back which make him even more powerful.
