Sorcerer
A whimsical old wizard who likes to pull magical "pranks" (dangerous tricks) on his clanmates. He's extremely powerful but vague as heck about everything to the point where he's virtually useless, but right before Titania's about to kick him out of the clan he always gets an important, urgent prophecy and he's begrudgingly allowed to stay. Loves to charge dragons money for his magical advice, his magical advice is rarely magical and usually not even good advice, he just tells dragons vague life stories about himself and tries to convince them it has a tie-in to their problems.He lives in a cave inside of a cliff overlooking the ocean, and it takes a lot of effort for dragons to venture out to visit him. He spends most of his time practising his magic, coming up with new spells, learning from and translating old spell books, and occasionally giving out extremely vague, wizardly advice to dragons who make the journey to his cave. Once a month Titania will come visit him and makes him teach her all the new spells and magic tricks he's found out. He's one of the reasons she's so magically powerful, and thus her claims that she's going to kick him out of the clan are usually just empty threats. He sees the scribe, Minerva, as a daughter figure, and they have tea together at least once a week. Admiring her youthful enthusiasm and intelligence, he's offered to mentor her in the arts of wizardry many times, but she always turns him down, claiming her passion in life to be writing and documentation rather than any form of magic. Rumours of his past have circulated around the clan, how could they not? He's an extremely interesting figure within The Focal Company. Some dragons say he used to be one of the most powerful sorcerers in Sornieth, arrogant and proud, using his magical ability wantonly with a disregard for anyone's safety. Until, through sheer arrogance and foolishness, he accidentally killed his beloved daughter with a dangerous spell gone awry. Others claim he's an acolyte of The Tidelord himself, and that Prospero is the one who causes the violent storms and tsunamis that occasionally reach the shores of The Starfall Isles. Prospero himself talks little of magic in his past, he speaks of stories during his childhood only, with no mention of what his adult life was like. His past seems to be as vague as his advice in this regard. |
