When the world was a growing thing, the Plaguebringer created dragons by hand and unleashed them upon the world to spread the virus. Two of these were the most powerful of all, going on to be called 'witches' as they settled down into the marshy swamplands of Quod Labryinthus. Many centuries later their ranks would swell, including other witches so powerful they could count themselves as gods. One of these holds powers which induces awe: the ability to create life. One of their number who seems to come into the surrounding towns from time to time as of late is a new face to me. I know her name is Mana, and that she originally came from the town of Haven. The rumour is that she is tied to the infamous Sawyer bloodline, having once been married to it's leader. From what my sources told me, she was a very bright and bubbly woman and well liked, until her abrupt disappearance. Another rumour claims that she was killed but came back to life- perhaps aided by the witches she now serves. I cannot say with absolute certainty on the latter part, of course. I do find it curious though. I have seen her staring at the children of the towns with a look of supreme sadness, but equally I know of at least one occasion she has taken a child back to the swamp, never to return. Some pathology at work is my best guess. Still, she seems one of the least dangerous to interact with. There are plenty of people who have spoken to her- of course they all seem very unnerved, all those from Labyrinthus are, touched by witches as they are. The document has a small, slightly bloodstained fingerprint at the edge, as if someone peaked in to take a look at it's contents. --- Do not remind me of this, scholar. But- Ah. Ah. Ah. Why did they take you away from me? My darling son. My beloved husband. My sweet daughter. All gone into dark. I can never go back. It is empty for me now. Betrayed by those who I held faith in, by a god who does not answer! No. No more. I won't dwell on this. My Lady needs my help. With her guidance I will not repeat my mistakes. I warn you though, I don't like being watched. | _____________ |
