A Shifting Wonder of the Mechanics Clan Subdivision

Born into the elite of Chimeraishi society, she enjoyed many things that most others in that society couldn't. However, it came with its own restrictions-namely at birth they are assigned who their mate will be when of age and what their job will be in society. This is decided by the elders of the elite, with no input from the parents. Indeed, the elders maintain long lists of whose who and what jobs need filling and pass those down to the next generation of elders.

For obvious reasons, this can lead to conflict in families when the offspring doesn't want to marry the one they were set up with and/or do a job they don't want. Being the elite, they have far better jobs than those underneath them but like most things, not everyone will agree. Loss of class can happen as well as banishment from the family-depending on the severity of the offense.

Chione didn't like the hand she was dealt at all. Neither her selected mate or her job was what she wanted. Her mate was arrogant and condescending and her job was crunching numbers for others' financials. It wasn't long after her coming of age ceremony that she was banished from society as a whole due to this.

Chione had to learn many things on her own. Like finding food and shelter. And water. She also had a habit of biting off more she could chew because she had no idea where she was going. Naturally, this meant she dehydrated and starving by the time someone found her. Given how she was raised, she immediately knew this was a lower class Chimeraishi and refused to acknowledge him. Pride has a price and it was almost her life.

Chione collapsed soon after and was rescued by the other Chimeraishi. When she woke up next, she would meet Izar who would explain everything. Including that Chione needed to take dragon form. She was repulsed by that and Izar had to explain many times the many reasons why it was necessary. Chione had to swallow her pride yet again and Izar introduced her to Clan Leadership where they accepted her into the Clan.

Chione chose to join the same subdivision as the Chimeraishi she now knew as Lantana. She is more hands on and eager to actually make things herself-though very much standoffish with just about everyone else. Finding Lantana's very presence annoying, she would avoid him. However, the longer she was part of the Clan, the more used to others she became. She had to overcome that she was way out of her comfort zone and to turn her new life into a new and better comfort zone. Chione had to shed how she saw the world; it was far from easy since things had been drilled into her since birth. Most of the others-be they Dragon, Beastclan, Shifter or other were patient with her during this time.

Chione also started seeing Lantana in a new and exciting light. She started asking him out just to chat. This started to become more frequent and she started to include meals and then hobbies as a way to hang out and get to know him. Lantana was pleased by this and would show off his hobby and she would show off hers-collecting various fabrics. Mostly for the feel but also because she was willing to learn from others in the Clan how to make blankets and more. She eventually popped the question as to marriage and Lantana said yes. Her wedding gift was the first blanket she made that could cover the both of them and then some.
