Biography
ERAN
THE BROKEN MONSTER
anxious - recovering - unstable
anxious - recovering - unstable
It has been more than a year since Eran was defeated, left for dead next to his sister in the hot desert sun. It was the first time in his fractured, tattered memory that he was helpless, the phantasmal claws woven in his wings twitching in the dirt, two legs and a wing and multiple ribs broken, delirious from blood loss and grief. He remembers, very vaguely, the shadow of a massive ship blocking the heat of the sun, and Dola- Mama- buzzing over him worriedly. He didn't cry out in pain or beg for help, even when a set of massive claws scooped him up and ground his broken bones against each other-- but before he ever reached the ship, Mama's blood magic had put him firmly to sleep. He slept for a long time, the two healers of the ship desperate to keep his magic and his augmentations from ripping his damaged form apart. When he finally woke, it was to an entirely unfamiliar world. Emotional trauma and physical issues have left Eran the mere shell of a dragon that never really existed. He struggles to outwardly project emotions. He has severe trust issues, but simultaneously finds it difficult to disobey orders from those he views as his superiors. If he does, he risks panicking or shutting down. While his condition has improved dramatically, he still has a long way to go. Eran's physical augmentations include a set of eight clawed, ethereal hands nestled amongst his wing feathers; improved vision, strength, and reflexes; magical 'batteries' in the area of his shoulders and ribs; and a set of fins and gills that render him completely amphibious. His mask covers a spiderwebbing of scars, extending from the center of his forehead where his gem is conspicuously absent. The runes adorning his skin are an enchantment of sorts, further augmenting his strength and dexterity and making him extraordinarily resilient to attacks. Eran is a significant part of the reason, other than effective diplomatic immunity, the four DERG refugees have remained aboard the Lapin instead of leaving. The ship's strange engines siphon excess magic from his body, and Dola has expressed concern that departing could result in dangerous breath levels. In addition, the ship is a relatively safe place for Eran to learn how to blend in and be his own dragon after living his entire life in slavery and captivity. He exists quietly in the periphery of the crew, serving as a lookout on his good days and wandering the ship absently on the days he can't make his own choices. He still considers Dola his mother and has spent a few nights quietly curled up against Sika, the warm guardian enough to make even a broken monster feel safe. He is also friends with Abel: the two are comfortable in each other's presence, and became close after Eran repeatedly wandered into the garden on bad days, calmed by the beautiful sights and scents inside. |
