 Dola was once the primary caretaker of a certain subset of DERG's experiments, notably including Eran and his sister Hatarei. Genuinely caring and loving to all of her subjects, she believed wholeheartedly in DERG's mission for the betterment of dragonkind. While each sacrifice broke her heart, she respected that they were all for the greater good.

Dola's reputation in Spinehome was actually pretty good. Many former, escaped subjects claimed she treated them kindly and with respect, and in the end, this is what saved her. Shortly before Eran and Hatarei's fall, when teams stormed the known DERG bases, Dola was intentionally spared by the assassin Drip-- as he put it, he was returning a favor. She escaped the compound, and found herself seeking passage via the Lapin: she knew DERG was doomed to fall, and wanted to salvage whatever she could from the wreckage of the final confrontation.

The ship arrived at the battlefield mere hours after Spinehome had removed their wounded and dead. Eran lay still in a crater, claws still desperately reaching for the cold corpse of his sister, but Dola's clever use of blood magic let her know he was still alive. Using the same type of trick, Dola quickly sought out the rest of the living, bringing a total of six dying DERG members on board the ship. Two would perish before the night was over; a third died during an emergency surgery the next day.

She was left with Eran and two mercenaries, talented hired hands she had heard about but never personally met. Ari was the first to wake, the Wildclaw archer having suffered a severe concussion, broken wing, and broken leg. Despite initial jumpiness, general distrust, and an overall very cool and standoffish demeanor, Dola found Ari easy to get along with, a dragon with a troubled past but an interesting outlook on life.

Leucetius was... more of a challenge.

The Skydancer had had both wings not only broken, but shattered. While a combination of Dola's pinpoint-fine control over blood and Aziz's deep knowledge of medical techniques were able to prevent a double amputation, Leucetius would wake up nearly two weeks after the battle with half of his right wing gone. He very nearly attacked Dola for it when he first woke, only backing off when Aziz flared up protectively, and that first interaction colored much of their relationship after.

Dola, however, was very used to caring for dragons who hated her. It was altogether too easy to sink into treating Leucetius like one of her captives, putting on a show even when his misplaced rage left her emotionally exhausted. He was a proud dragon and obviously not used to being in a position of weakness, and was responding to it by being even more aggressive than she had expected of a mercenary. Eventually, that edge would blunt itself on her kindness.

And it did, over the course of several months, long after Eran woke and began to recover. Though they would never like each other, Dola knew she had finally earned his respect the first time she heard him defend her instead of DERG over a game of poker with Rise.

Dola considers all three of them her family. Eran has always been something of a son to her, calling her 'mama' from his infancy. Ari is her stoic older sister, blunt and protective. And Leucetius is like her younger brother: annoying, cruel perhaps, but family nonetheless. 		Moth-eaten Mith Doll
