𝖎. Born on February 14th, 1474 to an upper-class family of French and Italian origin in Besançon, France, Teodor was raised as the second oldest of three siblings; two boys and a girl. The way in which he was raised posed a challenge for his and his siblings development. Despite being lasciviously wealthy, Teodor's family drama and hardships were many. Having such a high position in nobility and a traditional duty to successfully navigate the dangerous mazes of court intrigue, Teodor's father, Sir Aurelien Pourcel Viscardi, was hardly ever without stress. Teodor was five years old when his father decided to marry his mother and leave everything of their former lives behind. The family fortune, along with the estate, was forfeit. Having little but the clothes on their backs and their bond with each other, Teodor's family relocated to a small cottage on the Tuscan countryside next to a peach orchard. The change in scenery was a much needed one, but because of the smaller relocation and very little money, it grew increasingly more uncomfortable to live there after he reached about thirteen years old. Teodor's life from then on until he moved out of his home passed in a blur. Both of his parents and younger sister perished to disease. While Didier, Teodor's elder brother and oldest of the Viscardi children, disappeared just before his parents died. In the very beginning, coping was unimaginably difficult. There was no emotional nor financial support from any outside party. Because of this, Teodor experienced severe anxiety attacks and depression. The transition from pampered and wealthy, to impoverished and grief-stricken was too much to bear. He left soon after, in pursuit of a new hope in Rome as a guardsman for the Pope's army when he was around seventeen. | . |
𝖎𝖎. In the early stages of this profession, life was hard and training was harder. He had three meals a day and a roof over his head, but there was no room for failure here. Teodor had to learn such quickly unless he wanted to be without pay and shelter. He was trained to fight. It was a brutal style, not lavish like he had assumed it would be. He learned to kill and protect and guard anyone he was ordered to with his life. It kept him busy and it kept him in order. Growing up in the environment Teodor had allowed him to be good at taking orders and following them to the letter. This was what gave him an advantage over his fellow guardsmen after he completed training. He ascended to the rank of a horseman, and from there learned efficiency upon horseback. Him and his fellows were tasked to ride in the front lines on battle-harded steeds with swords brandished at the ready; no longer was he the scared little boy who buried more than half of his family. He slaughtered his enemies with such a deadly accuracy that it attracted the attention of a Cesare Borgia. Teodor joined Cesare's army, and not four years later was at the top of his ranks, acting as his right hand man as well as some form of bodyguard. |
𝖎𝖎𝖎. Five years passed. He was good at what he did. Some argued the best. But as time and promotion after promotion flew by, so did his views on where he stood. Teodor began to doubt the Templars. Their goals and ideals no longer appealed to him as they did in his youth. His respect for Cesare was already crumbling, and when the great assassin Ezio Auditore began his liberation of Rome from Borgia control, there was nothing of Teodor's trust remaining. He began to play mole for the assassins in secret, offering up critical details on Cesare's standing. He trusted no one of his former affiliations save for another of Cesare's agents, Il Lupo. |
