Night Fury
Night fury was Toothless' mentor and the former alpha of the clan. He lead during the war with a clan of plague dragons that lasted 3 years. With matters resolved and a sustained injury he was forced to retire from the alpha mantel earlier than he wanted to.
While he has all the faith in the world that Toothless will be the greatest alpha the clan has ever seen, he fears he took the title to soon and might still be a little to quick to act and naïve. Unable to be exalted due to his injuries, Night fury acts as the clans first advisor to the alpha, and hopes he can keep Toothless on the right learning path to the greatest alpha, the alpha Night fury knows he can be.

Personality
Night fury is often described as being calm and collected. He's dedicated to his clan and will not hesitate to protect them from anything, even if that means a few harsh words to protect them from themselves. Night fury is a firm believer that honour should come before all else-- including love.
Night fury struggles sometimes mentally with his injury. No longer being the alpha and having been barred from the ability to be exalted he sometimes feels as though he was unable to complete his duty to his clan (despite having fought and ended a 4 year war) and was robbed of an honourable death because he survived a blow that should have killed him.

Personal past
Night fury was top of his class from hatchling to young adult where he was picked to be groomed for succession. His dedication to the clan and honour made him a prime candidate and the perfect choice for alpha. Unfortunately his "honour before all else" state of mind cost him more than he lets anyone know.
Young love is never uncommon among dragons, but real love? That's what Night fury had. She was a gorgeous dragon of the spiral variety and the only one Nightfury was ever interested in. Unfortunately he broke his own heart and hers when he turned his back on her to be Alpha.
There is no celibacy rule for the alpha, but he put everything he was into it, with a one track mind to what ever he's truly dedicated to, Night fury had no time for her. The last they spoke was the day she was exalted.
