Valkyria (chooser of the slain), Valkyries is one of a host of magical ladies who decide who will die in battle. The valkyries bring their chosen to the afterlife hall of the slain, Valhalla, ruled over by the god Odin, where the deceased warriors become einherjar. There, when the einherjar are not preparing for the events of Ragnarök, the valkyries bear them mead.
Valkyries also appear as lovers of heroes and other mortals, where they are sometimes described as the daughters of royalty, sometimes accompanied by ravens, and sometimes connected to swans.

Valkyria has no origin, nor did she originally affiliate with any one Flight. It is thought that she hails from the Sea of a Thousand Currents, yet legend speaks of her birth atop the dusty summit of a blood soaked battlefield, possibly near the peak of the Cloudscrape Crags.
It is implied that she reigns from a legendary dragon Beastclan, Dilos Modokriid (Deadly Ravagers) from the headdress she is never without. This wouldn’t be an absurd assumption, for Valkyria pertains the persistence and furiousness as her clan mates would’ve attained. With this knowledge, it became known to Valkyria when she was older that she is in fact the last of her people.

She was found within the fur of the Furious Headdress, kept protected from the mountain’s elements as a hatchling. Her saviours took her in and raised her within their clan on the Snowsquall Tundra.
Valkyria was a pleasant young dragon, one fond of singing old Norse songs, and playing with the other young dragons. Though her talents truly lay in battle as it was made evident while play fighting among her peers. On several occasions she unintentionally got too rough with the other younglings and was made to sit aside. She found this unfair, and uncouth. Why should she be treated differently? Why was she different?
It was no secret that she was sturdier, more broad and greater in strength compared to the other clan children. But why?

When Valkyria was old enough to understand, and after many years of difficulty finding her place within their clan, the leaders sat Valkyria down and told her what they knew of her origins. To say the least she wasn’t surprised; she somehow always knew there was more to her. The Dilos Modokriid ran strong through her veins, there was absolutely no doubt about that, and she embraced her heritage.
It was found best to allow Valkyria free passage through the ice fields and beyond, to follow The Search which beccond her.

Her venture from the icy tundras lead her throughout the land; seeking refuge where ever she went, yet never finding somewhere she could call home. Not until she stepped foot into the Wastelands of the Plaguebringer; a deity in which she could relate and respect. Here she found her home, with fellow Vikings of the Meyvitaan Al.

Time came to pass, and her skill in fighting lead her to become a Shieldmaiden. Valkyria was admitted into the pillaging team, and rose through battle with her blood soaked headdress. She bore a furiousness and persistence like no other Viking; a true warrior through and through. Yet, she is also imaginative when it comes her talent in singing, but also in the art of battle; never letting her enemies slip through her talons.
She soon caught the eye of the clan leader, and king, Xerox Ironhyde; a stoic dragon said to have a vacant grieving heart. She did not pity him, nor did she seek to take advantage of him, it was not in her nature as a warrior. She was born of the battlefield, and that was where her heart lay.

However, she came to learn of his feelings toward her. Xerox hadn’t been one so easy to love himself, not after the loss of his first mate. The fate of Haze was common knowledge throughout the clan, though to suffer the same fate as she, Valkyria was not easily swayed. Not until his attempts at courting came to light. He was a flounder, and pleasantly amusing during his first attempts at winning her attention; he wasn’t used to being turned away from. Though his efforts never waned.

To his people, Xerox was a hero and a hardened, yet kind King. To Valkyria, he was a pillar in which she could lean to, a mind to adhere to, and a heart she could fall deeply in love with.
However, it was not to last. Valkyria discovered Xerox had lain with another dragon during his courting, and the Shieldmaiden couldn't comprehend the new felt heartache she endured. Having never loved before, nor had she been betrayed, Valkyria felt threatened by the child that was birthed in the wake of Xerox's absent mind. Valkyria revoked her love for the king, and returned her heart toward her battles.

During a raid, the gods tasked Valkyria with an untimely exercise. She was approached by a wanderer, a Skydancer, his name unknown at first, but the siege had rendered him mortally wounded, having been caught in the crossfire. Without aid in sight, the shieldmaiden took it upon herself to see this dragon to health while they were so far away from home.
The Skydancer revealed himself as Chesh once he was well, and became ever grateful to Valkyria and her compassion.
To say the least, the pair grew close within battles to come, seeing as how Chesh found it too difficult to leave. They were a force to reckon, and a team functioning with an almost telepathic ability. It came as a surprise to Valk when she realised she was beginning to love again.
