“Oh welcome, welcome, do come in!” He smiled and tossed his cane to the side, “Would you like some tea?”
The young dragon cautiously stepped closer. There wasn’t quite an ‘in’ to begin with, the dark sparkling expanse seemed to go on forever.
“That would be lovely sir,” Her smile was polite, but her mind was elsewhere, “If I may-“
“One thing at a time miss!” Yize reached into the void and pulled out a kettle, steam curling from the spout, “So what brings you here?” Cups had appeared and hovered in front of the two.
“That’s what I was wondering,” She cocked her head to the side, “I was just with my brothers a moment ago,”
“You seem young, let me guess was it long? Something unnatural? Perhaps illness or injury?” He took a sip, never breaking his gaze.
“What do you mean? Where am I?” Her eyes flashed with some realization, but confusion still lingered.
“Where do you think you are?” Yize grinned, it had been a while since someone landed here. Most usually just went straight through.
“Where is my mum and dad? My brothers? Can I see them?”
“Your mum and daddy are over there,” He gestured to his right, “You can see them soon, don’t worry darling. William will be here in a few years, and Ben-“ Yize paused and his eyes followed some invisible script in the air, “Looks as though someone got bored, shouldn’t affect you though, perhaps Will-“
“Where am I?” Lily’s voice was firm although fear trickled through.
“Love what’s the last thing you remember?” His eyes were kind and gentle, he knew what it was like, at least she could move on.
“That’s not an answer.”
“Humor me.”
She sighed before hesitantly beginning, “I- I was sick. Will and Ben were by my side,” She looked at him, her eyes soft and glistened with water.
“It happens to everyone, don’t worry,” Yize took her hand gently, “If you like you can go on now,”
“Will I ever see this place again?” Though the time with this man was brief, the tea and comfort made Lily smile.
Yize took off his hat with a flourish and winked,
