Many who are loyal to the Lightweaver see it as their goal to battle the Emperors - they become Paladins of Light and go through perilous training to become part of an elite squad of fighters. Becoming a paladin was Mondo's dream. He was cocky and full of himself, always butting heads with other trainees and even talking back to his mentors, Mondo had talent but he didn't have the strength of mind. His mentors warned him of his hubris, but Mondo never listened... While training, Mondo received a serious wing injury, rendering him unable to fly - a dragon that cannot fly is a dragon that cannot fight. Ashamed and humiliated, Mondo deserted the paladins and became a wanderer. With no purpose and a crippled wing, he was lost. Mondo forgot himself in the great libraries of the Sunbeam Ruins, trying to figure out a way to undo the damage. During his studies he met a peculiar dragon - Razelan, a mage who was looking to unlock the secrets of the dark arts. Razelan promised to heal Mondo's wing, so the two set out on a quest to find the ingredients for a spell that would heal Mondo. They wandered far, looking for spells and herbs but to no avail, Mondo started doubting Razelan's honesty and was ready to abandon him, when they came upon Romeo. The nocturne was running from an Emperor and Mondo and Razelan were forced to band together to defeat the creature. With Razelan's proficiency at magic and Romeo's sharp shooting, the three managed to take down the Emperor. Mondo had lost himself in the fight - an apprentice paladin would be knighted after defeating an emperor head, but Mondo managed to take down the real thing, working together with two other fighters. His confidence was restored and he reconciled with Razelan. Romeo joined their party and the three became adventurers, Mondo no longer desiring to fix his broken wings. Razelan turned Romeo into a Coatl and he and Mondo taught Romeo the Coatl language. The three traveled all over Sornieth, offering help to those in need - lost children, poor farmers and even some beastclan. Mondo became proficient at close combat, using gauntlets with claws for doing maximum damage. Due to his disability he learned to outsmart his opponents and use the terrain to his advantage, using the fact that his enemies often underestimated Mondo's battle prowess. He know fancies himself a berzerker - someone who plows through with brute force, surprising enemies with a burst of ferocity. |
