Although Flameborn had come from fire, no dragon would guess as much as first glance. Unlike his parents, the mighty Flameheart and Flamefeather, Flameborn lacked the fiery temper so common of dragons of his creed. However, that wasn't to say he was not a fighter with as much power as any other member of the Clan of Endless Warmth. Flameborn had always had quite the talent. Despite his impressive stature, being a Guardian, he had the innate ability to shock anyone, friend or foe. He was a master of disguise and surprise, and for what he lacked in hiding out of view he made up for by hiding in plain sight. When he had set out to find his Charge, he had also been performing the daunting task of collecting information on other Clans throughout all of Sornieth. Flameborn had blended right in among the marble columns of the Lightweaver's domain, where he stumbled upon a small Clan. There he met a young drakaina, clutching a glowing egg as she suffered glares from her Clanmates, sitting upon white tile far away from the rest of her group. Flameborn instantly felt drawn to this egg as he watched it pulse with light, gentle color radiating from within. He felt as though it must be his Charge although, admittedly, he didn't know what the connection to a Charge should feel like. His view snapped up to the drakaina's face suddenly, softening his gaze as he met her startled eyes. "Your Clan, they don't want the child." She nodded, clutching it tighter. Her mouth was pressed firmly shut, as though she didn't dare to let anything slip through. "Why?" She shook her heavy head, letting a low breath escape. "It's not supposed to be mine." Although there were many interpretations of this, Flameborn made the (most likely wise) decision not to press further. "I can take it away, if you like." The drakaina's eyes widened. "Really?" She clutched the egg tighter, seeming suddenly regretful. "Only if I can come with it. I've brought dishonor on the Clan; they don't wish for me here anyway." Flameborn pondered this for a moment, thinking about the reaction his parents would have to him bringing back a strange new dragon. "I suppose." The drakaina smiled slightly, loosening her grip. "Thank you." The two began the trek back to the Ashfall Waste, Flameborn carrying the egg at his own insistence. "No, thank you. I'm Flameborn, the heir to the Clan of Endless Warmth." "It's very nice to meet you, Flameborn. My name's Ori." |
