Deirdre was one of the many eggs who arrived to the lair during the Longest Holiday and as such she was doted and nurtured by her clan for her first gen lineage. Raised by Estelle, the Ridgeback made the decision to spread her own blood through being a brood-mother. She has made this choice of work all on her own and is comfortable and pleased in her life. She takes mates when she chooses to and only picks dragons that fit her standards. When she isn't caring for hatchlings she is teaching them alongside Estelle and raising others with no parents as her own.
Deirdre is incredibly picky about the fathers of her children and only picks those who have healthy bodies, minds, and have a bit of cunning. Deirdre is a very honest dragon and would never go after a dragon who is a chosen mate with another.
That being said, this narrows her down to a few select individuals.
She takes what she can get.
