TYRCIA
THE GOVERNOR OF ASTRALIS
____
48310187.png
▬▬ ABOUT ▬▬▬▬▬▬▬▬▬▬▬▬▬▬▬▬▬▬▬▬▬▬▬▬▬▬▬▬▬▬▬▬▬▬▬▬▬▬

To the blissfully ignorant members of The League of Valor, The Fallen One is the most mysterious person within the clan. The general view of her is positive thanks to Adrienne's work behind the scenes, but that doesn't stop people from wondering about her. Now, Adrienne certainly doesn't like it when people begin to get too curious for their own good, but she'll let the clan's members wonder about her-- so long as they don't cross the line. Killing every single person who has even a sliver of curiosity about her would be a waste of time and resources, and would create a mess that she isn't willing to clean up. So questions about The Fallen One are allowed to a certain extent, but the truth must never get out. For most, their inquiries will never find an answer.

No one beats Adrienne in terms of mysteriousness in the clan, but Tyrcia is a rather close second. The governor of Astralis is constantly absent from her office and never appears in public. Outside of meetings, it's nearly impossible to see her in person. And yet, none of her work is ever left unfinished or completed late. Every email and letter receives responses, often written by Tyrcia herself. She's never missed a meeting, even if she's nowhere to be found minutes before they start. Hardly anyone in the clan even knows what she looks like, even her own employees. But nonetheless, her work gets done and the city is managed without anyone needing to nag her.

Tyrcia herself has no intention of disclosing how she gets her work done despite her absence, though for reasons different than those of Adrienne's; she finds the confusion entertaining. It's like watching a mystery show, but she's not watching to learn the truth. She already knows the answers, after all. Rather, she wants to see how people figure it out. How do they piece the clues together? What troubles will they encounter along the way?

Of course, as amusing as her clanmates might be, nothing compares to the antics of Adrienne. Who could compare to a deity who is so comically egotistical to the point where they feel the need to fight a full on war against The Lightweaver?

▬▬ ORIGIN ▬▬▬▬▬▬▬▬▬▬▬▬▬▬▬▬▬▬▬▬▬▬▬▬▬▬▬▬▬▬▬▬▬▬▬▬▬▬

Tyrcia was not always a god. She may no longer recall what it is like to be mortal, but she was very much one of them long ago.

Tyrcia has, however, always been a phenomenal mage. A combination of natural talent and hard work spun together with sheer luck elevated her well beyond her peers even in childhood. It was not long before she started to attract attention. Dozens of magic schools across Sornieth reached out to her, offering large scholarships and boasting about what resources and experiences she could have access to if she chose to attend. By the time she was an adult, the invitations would practically explode out of her mailbox, letters landing at her feet like fruit flies trying to snatch food from a picnic. But before she could accept anything, she received a peculiar offer.

A god personally appeared at her door, hand held out and smiling.

"Do you wish to be a god?" they had asked. They did not need to say any more. Why spend the next few years of her life studying when she could have all that power at her claw tips in an instant? She took the god's hand and shook it.

"Of course," she replied.

Being a god was every bit as great as she thought it would be. She had more power than she could ever need, and she could use it as much as she wanted. But what was she supposed to do with all that power? Many gods who were in her situation would use their strength to toy with others-- particularly mortals. But not only did Tyrcia think that was cruel, she also found it boring. Like, seriously, who finds killing mortals and putting them through suffering fun? If you're going to mess with them, make it harmless.

Her refusal to be cruel to mortals did not mean she didn't find them entertaining, however. In fact, it was quite the opposite. Despite their short, fragile lives, Tyrcia found their lives fascinating, even endearing in a way. There was something delightful about watching them from her realm, using her power to enhance her senses and watch them up close.

But just staying in one place, seeing the same mortals all the time became dull after a while. Tyrcia needed a change of scenery, something new. So she decided to leave her realm and travel Sornieth in search of new drama, not knowing what she would eventually find...

"She's technically my boss, right? Or at least the dragon I'm supposed to report to? Either way, Artemis looks absolutely exhausted every time I see her. I kinda feel bad, especially knowing what she's going through. I offer to get rid of her exhaustion with my magic every time I see her, but she just looks at me funny and politely declines."

▬▬ NOTES ▬▬▬▬▬▬▬▬▬▬▬▬▬▬▬▬▬▬▬▬▬▬▬▬▬▬▬▬▬▬▬▬▬▬▬▬▬▬▬

» Her favorite sort of drama to "watch" is stuff involving romance or really petty fights

» Adopted Arden with Lorelei shortly after moving to the clan after they learned that he has a lot of trouble controlling his magic. Partially because they've wanted a kid for some time but mostly because they want him to grow up without fearing his powers, and it will be a lot easier for him to train them with two deities who can resist magic teaching him

» Tyrcia can show genuine care and concern for mortals (like with Arden, for example) but it doesn't happen all that often because she rarely interacts with them directly

» Doesn't really like to interfere with mortal affairs unless there's an emergency

» As entertaining as she finds her, Tyrcia doesn't want Adrienne to ultimately succeed, so she's sending information about her to the rebellion through Lorelei

» Adrienne doesn't really trust her at all, but Tyrcia just finds it funny more than anything

» Although she is excellent in terms of her magic skills, Tyrcia would be unlikely to win in a one-on-one confrontation with Adrienne, so she is ready to flee at any time

» Makes fun of Adrienne with Lorelei all the time behind her back

» She doesn't look down upon mortals but she's veeeery disconnected from them. Like she almost considers herself to be a different species from them (even though she is a dragon, just immortal). She genuinely forgets that they need to eat and that they tend to be hurt way more easily than deities. She's gotten significantly better since adopting Arden though

ORIGIN (CONT.)
[ WRITTEN BY VALANICE
]

"Do you wish to be a god?"

Of course Tyrcia said yes. Who wouldn’t?

-

Godhood changed Tyrcia in ways she didn’t expect.

She forgot, with almost frightening ease, what it was like to be mortal. She had no need to remember. She was of a different class, a different species, almost, elevated above their small, day-to-day lives. Sometimes, she would look down upon them from her place in the skies and wondered at how she could have once been one of them. One of those miracles of life, she figured.

Their smallness and insignificance made them no less entertaining, however. In fact, it enhanced their existence in a way she didn’t expect. There was something alluring, almost comforting, about how much they cared. They were miniscule, thousands of fragile lives that could dissolve to dust in an instant, and yet they cared so much in their fragility, compensating for the brevity of their existence with the power of their limitless emotion. It was intriguing. It was captivating. She couldn’t look away.

Endless drama, intrigue, romance, in endless combinations. Their creativity couldn’t be matched, and she would find herself following along with breathless anticipation, like they were characters in a favorite novel. She would share their laughter and their tears, from the safety of her domain, and she would feel comforted. For a time.

Mortals are ingenious, but only to a point. It’s not their fault, the poor things, but when you see the same names, the same faces, over and over, stagnant, it wears on you. She became bored, the anathema to godhood, to eternal life. And even as a mortal, Tyrcia never coped well with boredom.

She needed something new. New scenery, new people, new drama. And so, she bade farewell to her realm and departed for something grander, something new.

She found Lorelei.

Lorelei, the treasure of her adventures. It started small, as these things do, but they shared so much in common it quickly blazed into something brighter. Lorelei saw the world as she did - an oyster replete with potential for entertainment. Together, they would look down upon the land and indulge in their favorite mortal-watching pastime.

Lorelei was blind, she learned. She saw the world through the stars, the night sky her eyes. She could see by day, to an extent, but her vision was always better with more vantage points. One night, she said, casual as an afterthought - the stars tell me you’re beautiful.

Tyrcia felt oddly warm and light, afterwards. It wasn’t long before she asked Lorelei to marry her. When she accepted, Tyrcia felt as if she would float off the ground, without the need for wings or magic in the slightest. They roamed the world together, after that, neither one without the other. Two sides of the same eternal coin.

Recently, something new appeared on the horizon. Something particularly intriguing. Or rather, someone. A nobody of a minor deity, Adrienne, with more ego than brains or power, started a clan with the…ambitious goal to dethrone the Lightweaver herself. What hubris, what unrestrained gall! Tyrcia had to be there to see this.

Adrienne met her with suspicion. Tyrcia met her with a winning smile and a promise to help. Doubtless seeing an opportunity to use her, Adrienne gave her a position as governor over the city of Astralis. Keep your friends close and your suspiciously helpful deities closer, or something of the kind.

Tyrcia’s first act was to plunge the city in eternal night, so Lorelei could watch the drama with her. And her second was to sit, and wait, in gleeful anticipation.

This was going to be good.

Tyrcia (ter-shuh)
  • mischievous, romantic
  • really smart, surrounded by idiots. knows exactly when & how their antics will blow up in their face but refuses to tell them
  • not actually a deity?? just some1 who's really good at magic and the gods were like "wow ur good" and offered immortality and she accepted
  • absolutely despised them at first but then she started understanding Why They Do What They Do so she was like "ah ok" and stopped hating them
  • ir rly doesnt like letting her in (bc ir is meant to only allow select deities in and she is neither apart of the select deities nor even a deity) but soleus is Adamant on getting them to allow her to enter the realm
  • occasionally a mortal will worship her, but considering she's more of a "catch-all" and Not A Deity, mortals will worship/pray to other deities w more specialized areas and divine ranks

^^ Lore from previous owner, might keep? Idk
