Lore

. White mane shimmered in an agitated dance as Musa's companion Laurence, the Glitterfreeze Ambassador, charged into the clearing. "Mother Musa! Mother Musa! Come quick!"

He clutched his walking staff with a force that was liable to crush the ancient bronze shaft. His normally placid blue gaze was alive and rimed with worry.

Musa lifted her head from the patch of flowers that she currently sifted through to find healing herbs. "My word, Laurence! Peace! Whatever has upset you?"

"No time, no time," he answered, "It's the Patriarch! Come! Oh gods...!"

In one of the rare displays of his Longneck athleticism, Laurence used his staff to vault onto Aequum'Musa's back. "Hurry! The base of the spire, Mother Musa!"

Aequum'Musa opened her wings and launched into the sky. She willed her wings to carry her faster, as she was finally able to pick up on the... horror... that radiated off of the Crystal Spire. Her antennae fluttered as she was nearly bowled over by the overpowering aura of rage. Aequum'Musa knew it was Magna'Mater.

As she drew closer to the base of the Crystal Spire, with ocean waters gently rippling beneath her talons, Aequum'Musa spotted the gathered dragons of the clan. She shouldered her way through. "Away! Let me pass!"

Once those around her parted the way, Aequum'Musa came upon Magna'Mater gently stroking Magna'Patrem's head as he lay partially submerged in the ocean. Laurence jumped off of Aequum'Musa's back and clutched his staff. Musa dared to step closer to the royal pair despite how her nerves cried for her to get away from the rage of the maternal Guardian before her.

"My lady," asked Aequum'Musa, "What happened? Is the Patriarch...?"

Magna'Mater paused in her stroking. Her paw slowly drew away with a visible, violent shaking. "I... No. Magna'Patrem still lives... in a sense. He... I need to..."

Magna'Mater shook her great head, the embroidered edges of her violet hood shimmered from the silver runes and the fabric fluttered from the motion. Nostrils flared from the effort of her mighty inhale, only to relax and ease as her exhale billowed forth in a long sigh. Violet eyes, normally warm and caring, focused on Aequum'Musa with cold purpose.

"Go to the depths of the Spire," ordered Magna'Mater, "Aequum'Musa, treat Noctis'Timore's wounds. I will determine his punishment at sunset."

Aequum'Musa was rooted to the spot she stood. Her eyes widened as she could not look away from the Matriarch. "Your son...?"

Magna'Mater growled, "You have your orders. Everyone else, begone! Away with you! Tacet'Mare, Arcyng, I would speak with the two of you alone."

Pulled away by Laurence's insistent tugging hooves, Aequum'Musa let herself be towed by her familiar. Her mind reeled from the shock. Noctis'Timore attacked his father? To what purpose? He always seemed like such a calm and resolute Mirror. His taste in fashion was a little dreary in her eyes but she never thought him capable of such betrayal.

As they drew closer to the depths of the Crystal Spire, a network of crystalline tunnels, Aequum'Musa came to a stop. She looked at Laurence and asked, "Did you see what happened?"

Laurence shook his head. "No m'lady, I was summoned by one of the clan. Ordered to fetch you. I... don't understand m'lady. Why would Magna'Mater dismiss you from the one that needs medical attention?"

Aequum'Musa shook her head. "There wasn't anything that I could do for the Patriarch. I have my doubts that he even lives."

A rough rasp echoed from the chamber ahead of Aequum'Musa and Laurence, "He lives. Barely. She stopped me before I could finish the job."

Aequum'Musa's spine froze. She looked ahead to the limping Mirror that approached. Her body flinched when he struck some sort of force field. A shimmering surface lay between him and Aequum'Musa, barring him exit. "Noctis... What did you do?"

The grisly Mirror male that sat on the other side of the force field produced a snort. His grim cloak rustled as he shook his head. "I forced fate's paw. The stagnancy of the clan was unbearable, and father was content to let us all wither away in complacency."

Laurence whispered, "You attacked the Patriarch? To what purpose?"

Ochre saliva dripped from pale fangs when Noctis'Timore bared his fangs in a fearsome smile. "My ascension. I was to take what was rightfully mine. King of the Crystal Spire."

Laurence stuttered, "But Arcyng Leo'Animus is the named Heir Apparent. Why didn't you challenge him as was decreed when the station was created?"

Noctis'Timore purred, "A ridiculous form of assigning the next heir. So arbitrary, no reasoning. It was my father's suggestion after all and I wanted to show him the folly of it. I believe he got the message...Hahaha!"

Aequum'Musa shook her head. "I was ordered to see to your wounds... but I do not smell any injury."

Noctis'Timore clicked his tongue. "I already healed myself. My wounds were insignificant."

Aequum'Musa frowned. "I think I now know what Magna'Mater meant. Your injuries are not physical... I... Noctis. Do you even regret what you just did?"

Noctis'Timore's eyes narrowed. The four glittering pools of violet framed by his black and silver scaled face made Aequum'Musa's blood freeze. Noctis'Timore's voice dripped with contempt. "What is there to regret when I feel no kinship with that Mirror? He cast me aside like yesterday's leftover bones. The clan followed his lead. Where is this newfound care and concern coming from Aequum'Musa? Only because dear Mother ordered you to see to me? Your presence here only affirms what I know to be true. Somehow, I have lost my standing as next in line to lead the clan. No one to praise me when I protect the clan, no one to acknowledge my efforts. Care for the dead. Bah! Not a single one of you cares, so why should I?"

Aequum'Musa struggled to pull away, her paws carried her closer to the male Mirror. She could feel the waves of malice crushing her from all sides from his aura. Her jaws worked but not even a squeak could escape her throat. She realized that she was scared. Terrified by the creature that held her captive in his gaze.

Laurence barked, "Mother Musa! Step away from him!"

Jolted, Aequum'Musa stumbled backward. Her entire frame shuddered as she drew deep breaths.

Noctis'Timore's wicked smile never left. He sat on the other side of the threshold; his shoulders shook in merriment. He crooned, "What is the matter Mother Musa? You can't heal me from the other side of this barrier."

Aequum'Musa turned away from him. She had to look away or else she might find herself captured by his eyes again. Her right forepaw clutched at her chest as she focused on breathing. She finally managed to rasp, "I... whatever has plagued you Noctis is beyond my ability to heal...! I... You... You've gone mad! Lost in a false reality of your own making!"

Noctis'Timore burst into a bout of harsh cackling. His laughter chased Aequum'Musa and Laurence away from the threshold and all the way up to the Mage Knight's level of the Spire.

Aequum'Musa trembled. She whispered to Laurence, "I... I want Augustus'Umbra..."

Her head shook to the negative. "We must never let that monster roam free."

The Titan Age

Titan of Motherhood - Nursery Mother

The Titan Age
Aequum'Musa spent a great amount of her life wandering the lands of Sornieth. She could not stand her birth clan any longer so she separated from them at an early age. Aequum'Musa braved snowstorms, sandstorms, lightning storms, and every sort of storm imaginable during her travels. She adored meeting new clans and seeing different walks of life. However as time passed something began to weigh heavily on her heart. She finally was able to identify it after meeting Magna'Mater and Sanguinem Luna Clan; to which after their pleasant conversation about a campfire they were going to go their separate ways. Aequum'Musa identified the feeling as loneliness and a desire to not be left behind. She chased down Magna'Mater and the Sanguinem Luna dragons to ask them if she could join them. Magna'Mater welcomed Aequum'Musa with open wings. Over time Aequum'Musa became a motherly and nurturing member of Sanguinem Luna clan. She loved them all, especially the dear little hatchlings. She couldn't get enough of the little ones' antics and she was sure to keep an eye on them when their parents could not. This caring nature also drew her toward Augustus'Umbra. She could not understand why he was so standoffish when he was a valued member of Sanguinem Luna Clan. Aequum'Musa began to spend time with him and fell in love with his hurting but noble spirit. She would challenge him to socialize with his clan mates and she could see her influence beginning to help his hurt soul heal. What took her by surprise however was that Augustus'Umbra returned her love. They became mates that would support each other through thick and thin. Aequum'Musa became the caretaker of the nursery when Sanguinem Luna finally settled in the Crystal Spire. It always upsets her when hatchlings go missing and she can not find them. The night that Luna'Spiritus, Magna'Mater's daughter was hurt, Augustus'Umbra was the one to bring the injured young one to Aequum'Musa. She was able to heal Luna'Spiritus's injuries with the help of her familiar but she could not remove the fine filigree of scars that marred the little one's body. That repeated failure to protect all of the clan's hatchlings frustrates Aequum'Musa. If she ever gets her paws on the monsters responsible for hurting the little ones, Aequum'Musa will make them pay dearly.

The Pantheon Age
Aequum'Musa spent this age asleep within crystal inside Titan's Rest.

The New Age
Aequum'Musa, much like the other Titans, does not show any sign of waking from her sleep.

Glitterfreeze Ambassador
Laurence the Glitterfreeze Ambassador
Before Aequum'Musa met Magna'Mater and the rest of Sanguinem Luna Clan she was wandering the Southern Icefields. She ended up lost in a strong snowstorm and came across a Glitterfreeze Ambassador. The friendly Longneck was kind enough to lead Aequum'Musa to a nearby cave where she could take refuge. While waiting for the storm to lessen, Aequum'Musa shared a long and pleasant conversation with the Glitterfreeze Ambassador about their journeys. The topic turned onto the goals for the future and Aequum'Musa told the Longneck that she eventually wanted to settle into a clan and raise a family. The Glitterfreeze Ambassador liked the idea of settling down and offered to accompany Aequum'Musa in her travels. Aequum'Musa was delighted to accept the offer. The two have been together ever since. Nowadays the Glitterfreeze Ambassador helps Aequum'Musa with taking care of the nursery area.
