Dragon Log

She was barely a day old when she was found, wandering near the lair entrance. The Clan took her in, and she quickly became a favorite of all the other Coatls of the lair. While waiting for the correct time to attempt to produce their own hatchlings, Quartz and Lapislazuli took this young one under their wing. Her name was a given, considering her color; her instant acceptance by almost all the clan was less so, but happened none-the-less....

10-9-14: Her Double-tailed Warcat has Awakened! Garnet is happy to see her old friend has reached full maturity in the Clan at last, but she is a bit wary of his claws....

11-4-14: The Warcat has gone exploring outside the lair, and Garnet has discovered an unusual fungus in the back of the cave... oddly enough the Ancient Fungus seems to like her! The other Coatls will not be pleased...

1-10-15: She has decided to join with the other Coatls in their special project, and is eagerly looking forward to the new hatchlings she can help mother...

2-1-15: Despite the disinterest—and in some cases downright dislike--of many of the Coatls for her “friend,” Garnet has remained loyal to him throughout…and now he has Awakened! Oddly, this seems to have actually caused some of the other Coatls to warm up to him….

2-15-15: Shy, and not quite sure of herself, Garnet was sure that she would be overlooked in the project, and was simply looking forward to mothering all the resulting hatchlings, until they wandered off to new Clans. Fate, however, had other ideas, and Garnet was given a pleasant surprise....

2-20-15: Garnet is now watching anxiously as 2 Eggs wait to hatch. What will the hatchlings be like? Only time will tell....

3-7-15: The eggs have hatched! The restless hatchlings look like they may wish to leave the Clan soon, however...

3-8-15: Garnet's first foray into motherhood had mixed results: Her daughter has decided to serve the Shadowbinder for all time, and her son is now happily settled in a Water Flight, with a Shellion familiar. But the proud mother has noted that both are extremely happy, and that is all that matters....

3-15-15: While sunning outside the lair, Garnet saw a cute little Ragamouse, which promptly followed her home....

6-13-15: The cute little Ragamouse is now much bigger... but Garnet still thinks he's cute! The other dragons of the Clan may have another opinion, however. Perhaps now that he has Awakened he will be able to endear himself to them better? At least Garnet's hatchlings might like him.... if she has any....

6-20-15: Despite the shy Coatl's concerns that she would not be able to attract a mate this time around, 2 males found her interesting enough to court.... Garnet had a lot of fun choosing, and is now nervously watching over the 2 eggs she and her newest mate have produced.....

6-28-15: Garnet's newest children are healthy, and seem happy. Her daughter is a bit restless, unsure where she fits in just yet--or if she should look elsewhere for a home--but her son has already made his choice, and is quite settled in his new Water Clan residence....

9-2-15: A visiting dragon informed the Clan that during the Flameforger's Festival a certain young one had found a name for himself at last. Garnet is extremely pleased for her oldest son....

9-9-15: That same dragon had news of other Clans as well, and now Garnet knows that Calixto has 3 fine young dragons... and that one of her blood is serving the Tidelord. She is a little stunned at the news, but very proud....

1-6-15: There may be problems among Garnet's familiar friends. Riddle, the new, mysterious Mirror, has been sniffing around the caves... and Garnet's Ragamouse is looking more and more interested in him. Could he possibly be thinking of severing Garnet's familiar bond and trying to form another with the Dark Dragon? The others hope not, as that would be extremely painful for all of them....

6-9-16: Garnet's Ragamouse is still, at the moment, loyal. The Ancient Fungus, however, has grown tired of the suspense... or perhaps he is just tired. For whatever reason, he has decided to retreat to the Vault for now. In the meantime, a Monkey Wrench, Murphy, has taken an interest in the small dysfunctional "family"....

10-1-16: Murphy has Awakened! Perhaps the now fully mature Monkey Wrench can convince Wormtail, Garnet's Ragmouse, to stay loyal? Or at least interfere with his plans to switch allegiances....

10-29-17: After over a year of anxiously watching her beloved Ragamouse vacillate between staying and leaving, Garnet is breathing a quiet sigh of relief: Riddle, the Dark Mirror, just bonded with a Plague Rat, which promptly took the name Wormtail. Almost at the same moment, Garnet's Ragamouse--who had also been insisting for some time that he should be called Wormtail--shook himself, gave a squeak of fear, and ran to Garnet’s side. It seems that his infatuation with Riddle was not, after all, his natural desire, but something....inspired...from elsewhere. If Garnet were a bit more aggressive, she might consider confronting Riddle over this, but as it is the shy Coatl is just glad to have her friend back safe and sound, and no longer enamored of a nasty tempered Mirror. There may yet be retribution, however, as both Murphy and the Warcat seem to be much more furious over the whole matter--and the Ragamouse himself is no weakling….

4-5-18: Yet another chapter has begun in the saga of Garnet's familiars, as the shy Arcane Coatl has somehow attracted the attention of a fierce Wind Raptorik...a Greenwing Razorclaw, to be exact. Slash literally latched onto her paw--with his teeth--while she was playing with her older bonded companions, and has refused to let go. The Clan is not sure why Garnet keeps attracting the more warlike companions, but at least this one is not likely to be stolen by Riddle. He is far more likely, in fact, to give Riddle a slash across the nose--which might not be a bad thing....

7-7-18: Slash, the Greenwing Razorclaw, has Awakened! And is now apparently attempting to teach the Ragamouse and Garnet's other friends some new battle cries, as well as a few moves with the sword. Garnet isn't sure which exercise is more fascinating to watch, but one thing is certain: Between the ear-shattering sounds coming out of their mouths, and the limb-shattering movements of their various (new) weapons, Riddle won't be poaching any more of her familiars any time soon...

10-2-18: Garnet recently "graduated" from using a minor focus stone to working with a much more powerful--and much larger--ruby. Though she still keeps her "simple" choker, she is now channeling her power through a "Cursed" Talonclasp Pendant, which was given to her as a gift by her adoptive father, Quartz. Interestingly enough, the pendant seems to have the power to keep Riddle away, as he has stopped bothering her familiar family since she started wearing it. Unfortunately, channeling her magic in this way has also had another, far less pleasing, side effect: Garnet has never really thought of herself as a "Fire" dragon, but only days after she started using the pendant, she acquired a Conflagrant Halo. Much to her distress, the burning circle of fire will not go away, no matter what she does....

4-6-20: While Garnet has been dealing with unwanted Auras, there have been other, much more desired changes happening around her as well. The latest one is the sudden, unexplained return of her Ancient Mushroom friend. Apparently, something is happening in the Vault, and many of the "Vault Familiars" are moving back in with their dragons. No one is sure why, but Garnet, for one, is completely happy with this change...
