Biography

------

Ragnaron stood nervously only a few meters away from the entrance to his clan's lair. He shifted his weight anxiously, pulling the two hatchlings at his sides closer to him with his wings. One was a fluffy purple Tundra hatchling, who seemed more curious about the lair before him than scared. The other was a red Mirror who looked strikingly similar to Ragnaron. Unlike her brother however, she looked almost as nervous as Ragnaron, ducking her head under his wing as he pulled her closer. The Nocturne sighed. He was obligated to return to his clan, but there was no doubt in his mind that Reifos would recognize the red Mirror as the daughter of him and Seithis. Of course, he always had the option of staying with his mate in the Clan of Ichor, but Ragnaron feared that doing so may soil the friendship the clans had if they found out he had left them for the Shadow Clan. Besides, the leader of the Clan of Ichor gave him the chills. Taking a deep breath, Ragnaron marched over to the door of the clan lair with his two children in tow, and gave the door a solid knock. Shortly after, the door swung open, and the Nocturne was greeted by a brown mirror in green ranger clothes. It was Silverwitt, the founder of the clan's monarchy.

Great... just the dragon I needed to greet me after I disobeyed the king. Ragnaron thought in dismay. Silverwitt seemed surprised by his arrival, but she began to speak.

"Is that you, Ragnaron?" she inquired. The Nocturne inhaled sharply.

"Yes... it is me," he replied.

"Why have you come back?"

"I'm returning home, if you'll let me come back." Silverwitt stroked her chin as she thought for a moment.

"One moment please." the mirror hurried away, leaving Ragnaron standing at the doorway with his children quivering at his side.

She's probably getting Reifos he thought in alarm. No way the king would let him rejoin the clan scott-free. Not after Ragnaron had disobeyed his explicit orders to stop seeing Siethis. Hearing talon clicks drawing closer, he braced himself for an outrage, but was startled to see a very different, friendly-looking spiral head peek around the corner. He looked to be rather young, with a pale body and dark blue wings. What was more, he wore the signature golden-yellow crown that the current monarch of the Lucidlight Clan would wear, and he most certainly was neither Reifos nor Corjia.

"Ah, hello! Welcome welcome, do come inside. Bring the little ones too!" The spiral didn't sound the least bit negative, gesturing with his hand for the three of them to come in. Ragnaron obliged, allowing his hatchlings to walk without his wings around them. Still, despite what he assumed was the new king's friendly demeanor, he couldn't help but feel fearful of what could happen to his children. What if this spiral didn't know of Ragnaron's disobedience, but learned of it and punished him and his family? What if his friendly tone was a ruse, to try tricking Ragnaron into letting his guard down? The Nocturne worried over these thoughts as he took shaky steps behind the new king.

The three of them were shown to a sunny room with a low, round table and pillows to sit on.The spiral and Silverwitt took a seat at the table; Ragnaron assumed he should do the same, settling down on the opposite side of the table from the king, keeping his hatchlings close.

"So... Ragnaron right? I've heard a little bit about you," the spiral started with a neutral tone, "but let's get introductions out of the way first. I am Rezine, the new king of the clan and son of Corjia and Reifos. Would you mind introducing the hatchlings?" Ragnaron fidgeted with his talons nervously, but responded.

"Th-this one is Kamaitachi," he said, pointing to the purple Tundra, "and this one i-is Ailga." he pointed to the red Mirror. Rezine nodded in acknowledgement.

"Now, I am aware that my father did have a few words about you, Ragnaron, and what's been going on," the spiral paused "but I don't think I could call myself a very good king if I issued a punishment based on the limited information I've been given, so I'd like to hear your story. Tell me, why did you run away?" Ragnaron exhaled in relief. He would have a chance to explain himself, and hopefully the king would understand. So he told Rezine of the day he first contacted Siethis, of the letters they began writing to each other, of his growing feelings for her. He told of how he began meeting her in person, how Reifos soon found out and banned him from leaving the region, and how he ran away to be with her. When he was finished, the king looked a lot more lenient than before.

"I see now." Rezine nodded, and smiled at the Nocturne. "Love is something I could hardly punish a dragon for. Although it was wrong to disobey my father at the time, I welcome you back to the clan with open arms." A wide smile of happiness and relief spread across Ragnaron's face as he exhaled.

"Th-thank you, my king," the Nocturne said graciously, glancing at Kamaitachi and Ailga in growing excitement.

"You are free to take residence in your previous room again. You are dismissed." Rezine got up from his spot and looped out of the room, with Silverwitt following behind. Ragnaron melted in his seat, his courage run dry and the tension of the conversation having worn him out.

"What's going to happen, dada?" Aigla pawed at her father's face, causing him to smile again.

"We're going to live a good life here, sweetheart," he responded, getting back up and leading his children towards his old room.

Inadequacy, in the current state of order, is unacceptable. Blemishes and fallibilities are one of the most severe shortcomings of the greed and their spawn-kind. Many are unwilling to accept us, and reject our hospitality arrogantly. Many are scared to face the unknown. Their fragile minds are their own greatest weapons.

For this one, that holds true.

But this one holds an alibi.

For due to this one, flaw has struck down one of our accomplices in the greed. A cog in the great, glorious machine that ekes towards the fruition of their freedom.

Love.

Love, one of the many forms of yearning that twists the greed from their perfect stardust forms, is perhaps the most challenging obstacle we face.

But our accomplice has promised success and achievement from its fatal flaw, a plea to return to us what it threatens to take. To give us more, and prove its faith to us.

So we watch with interest. So we observe, as this one wanders our growing halls and magnificent advents. The arrivals of new kin to join us in the stars. The loyalty of those who gaze up from below. All is not known to this one yet, but once he learns, perhaps he may connect with us as well.

Through the wells and the walls, we watch. And perhaps, as he glimpses back with fear glittering in his unholy, primitive eyes... he watches us as well.

Only time will tell.

And we are forever.
