Biography

Weron
Goddess of Dreams and Art | Interior Decorator

Kaja the goddess of prosperity turned out to be rather smaller than Weron had expected. She was petite, even by the standards of the Fae, and she was currently tapping a gold covered claw on a small, but as best as Weron could tell, well curated pile of treasure.

“Well?” Kaja drew out the word. “You asked to speak with me?”

She had. The rumors she had heard of an isolated lair that believed there was a goddess living amongst them had begged exploration. The dragon who had shown her in had been remarkably blasé about the goddess among them, and had even mentioned that Kaja kept some of the most meticulous ledgers of clan supplies he had ever seen. As if bookkeeping was a normal skill to boast of in one’s goddess. Still none here had seemed to question the fact that Kaja was a goddess. Not even the massive Imperial who had been sunning herself outside when Weron arrived.

Seeing her now effortlessly dominating the entire space with a subtle movement of a gold silk draped wing Weron knew why. Kaja was definitely a goddess, and she needed to learn exactly how it was done. Still, how did one go about getting apprenticed to a goddess?

“Greetings sister! I have traveled long to be with you. Forgive my momentary stupidity. It has been too long since I have seen a fellow goddess and I was awash in your splendor.” Weron straightened her spine and held her breath.

“Fellow goddess? Goddess of what?” Kaja’s eyes narrowed.

“Of the stars,” Weron answered as she spread her wings and displayed their star patterned membranes. “And of dreams… and the arts.”

“Goddesses shouldn’t pause so when they speak. It doesn’t do to let anyone think you do not have the answer to their question.”

“I shall pause,” Weron drew in a breath and with it every fiber of indignation in her being. “As often as I see fit. It is not easy to channel such cosmic energies as move through me. And my words are worth waiting for.”

“Why have you come here?” Kaja’s crest was trembling, though Weron couldn’t tell if it was in amusement or anger.

“To seek shelter with you, dear elder sister. How can dreams and art truly thrive in any place which prosperity has abandoned?” Elder, as word choices went, was something of a calculated risk. Hopefully she would be flattered with the deference, rather than vain about her age.

A long silence drew out between them then Kaja clasped both sides of Weron’s head and she could feel the sharp tips of those gold cover claws claws ever so delicately against her scales.

“Forgive me sister it would seem I too have been to long without the company of fellow goddesses. You must be exhausted after so taxing a journey. Rest a while in my bed while I see if I cannot find you some more worthy raiment before you meet the others of this place. You are most welcome here.” Kaja paused to give the bare stone walls of her chamber a baleful glance. “We are in rather dire need of a goddess of art.”
