Biography
"You watch the Ridgeback attempt to ‘sneak’ out of your temporary lair, trying to muffle your laugh. The Ridgeback hears you and desperately attempts to rapidly explain how they were just borrowing your ancient relic, they’d give it back before you left. They promise, it’d even be in a pristine condition."

PERSONALITY Huntersnap is a rustic, high-spirited dragon. She thrives on uncovering ancient remains of the past and preserving them carefully. Unsurprisingly Huntersnap outspoken and confident dragon that refuses to let anyone get in her way. She’ll refuse to let anyone but her team see new finds until they have thoroughly examined them. Huntersnap is shortsighted when it comes to things she supposedly borrows, often causing her to easily be caught and get into trouble before she can safely store it away. “Safely” being relative as the only precautions taken is the random storage due to Huntersnap’s lack of organizational skills. ABOUT History Huntersnap was raised in the Wiretangle Walk which taught her to be careful where she steps. She was raised by parents that taught her to make small devices that were useful for mostly only a singular type of task. The young Ridgeback grew up to love small constructs but shun the bigger projects that required delicate maintenance. Huntersnap only left her birth clan when she met a traveling merchant. One of the relics he sold intrigued her, and inspired her to seek out more of its kind. Before she left, Huntersnap borrowed the relic from under the merchant’s nose, which she always claimed the merchant should’ve known better than to leave his wares out in a Ridgeback dominated land. Which is true, but didn’t cause her to escape anyone’s ire. Huntersnap traveled all the way to Dragonhome, joining the Dragonhome Preservation Guild as an apprentice. Only considered a teenage dragon, she spent most of the time under a tutor learning the basics of preservation or eventually the basics of evacuation under a mentor. Huntersnap adored the process of uncovering each relic and quickly learned how to decipher the ancient languages and scripts on most of them. She’d usually leave the cataloging of artifacts to others, but only because she was too impatient to find the next artifact. Despite this, Huntersnap was able to pass her tests easily and soon became a Master Archaeologian. The Colonnades of Antiquity were packed with the Guild and Huntersnap knew she’d have to leave to find her own worthwhile site. Packing up her few possessions which consisted of a few minor crafts and relics, Huntersnap set out. She researched a few clans that possibly had an ancient site hidden below them and sought each clan out. The first few clans turned her away for various reasons, mostly because they didn’t want her tunneling dangerously in their territories. When she came upon the Sanctuary though, the council didn’t mind as long as it didn’t interrupt the ecosystem or the clan’s lives. Gratefully Huntersnap set up her home in the Sanctuary and began her life as an archeologist. Currently Huntersnap spends very little time in the actual Sanctuary and usually only when storing artifacts. Otherwise she spends her time digging up various sites in the Sanctuary’s territory with evidence of ancient beastclan or dragon civilizations. It is Cloudrise and Merideth that form Huntersnap’s team, with a few temporary recruits from the Sanctuary joining briefly to learn the craft. Huntersnap’s collection of relics and artifacts has gotten so big that most have to be stored in a warehouse rather than her own lair. Huntersnap still has an extreme problem with snatching relics from travelers and merchants without proper compensation but because she stores them randomly within her warehouse, not many bother to get them back. Huntersnap continues her love for small crafts, crafting tools and machines that help her team successfully dig without harming each site. While usually unable to find the time to fish for her meals, her familiar, a Chillriver Bucktooth by the name of Harbour, happily trades her meals everyday without fail. In return Huntersnap takes time to reinforce Harbour’s nets or weave nets out of flexible metals to help catch stronger fish. Huntersnap has no proper mate and only cares for the children of hers that stay within the Sanctuary. She holds little to no interest in the ones that leave but takes the time to interact with the ones that stay. Huntersnap briefly teaches each hatchling the basic engineering skills. |

I like your idea of Huntersnap as an archaeologist, and the runes contribute to that effect. Of course dragons don't have to follow the personality of their flight, but there's some interesting about a lightning dragon being an archaeologist. You could even have her construct tools and devices to aid in her work. Maybe being a bit riduculous here, but maybe the runes on her scales are a way of taking notes? If she doesn't always have paper or a way of recording on her, she may write down small snippets of information on her scales in as few words as possible.
Another thing is she comes across as very nature-y. From her name, color scheme, to her familiar. She could easily be a hunter or gardener as well.
Continuing the first idea-
Being in Water as a ridgeback, she likely still mimics the rolling in desert sand, by doing the same on beaches as a habit. She could follow in the habit of "borrowing" by conducting her own research and happening to borrow artifacts to study them. If a dragon has a treasured fossil or relic in their lair, she'd probably sneak in and help herself to it.
course, not a lot of places to find artifacts when the region is all ocean, unless she's researching interesting sea fossils and seashells.
I'm going to add more ideas to this later, i hope you don't mind how i close stuck to the archaeologist idea.
Also, maybe her familiar brings her fish. She is a ridgeback after all.
