Come here little child... You can play in my garden of shadows....

Axa enjoys her life in the Swamp, with her husband and lovely children. She doesn't actively go out and smuggle anymore, no. She's hired lackless idiots to do so at her bidding. And besides, she wouldn't call her job so crude. She doesn't smuggle, she merely relocates lost dragons and sets them up in a place with a shelter, and steady meals every day. Just because the walls are barred and the meat sourced from deceased dragons, others would often turn their noses at the accommodation, but her clients don't mind. Her slaves are of the highest quality, often lasting their masters, slavedrivers, merchants and scientists a good, healthy amount of months or years before their hearts give out or their lungs stop working. Very good quality. Aah, but it's all in a day's work. Her children understand her work, and often help her out at the office, while her husband spoils her with jewellery and trinkets from the other side of the planet. Her arch nemesis is the pearlcatcher who runs the Swamp under her greasy rule. Setting 'laws' that only limit her business, and 'taxes' that bleed money out of her precious reserves, discussions with Ursa often turn violent, resulting in Axa's mouth stitched shut with her toxic magic, her knives mysteriously disappearing, or pins found wedged under her scales. Ursa was a foul woman who held the upper hand over Axa, and Axa would die before she admitted it.

Hatched as a lone egg among the dark winter, Axa had an early start at theft and deception. When her parents, established breeders in the clan, were away, she'd sneak into where the clan kept their hoard and play with most of what was sorted. Oftentimes she got caught and when she did, she'd lie and say she had gotten lost. Her life took a turn when she neared adulthood. She was sold within the flight to a Shadow clan but whereas her former clan was peaceful; this one was the essence of darkness. The dragons that she Mal had little tolerance for her gimmicks. When she misbehaved and was caught sneaking multiple times, her leader decided to use it to the clan’s advantage. She was sent away on “missions” to infiltrate other clans. When her first few missions saw her getting caught or tangled in her own lies, she was attacked and once nearly killed. Her clan did nothing to discipline her but her leader mentored her. Each new mission sent her to a new clan, some nearby and others across the continent. Always, the mission ended with one or more dragons’ lives ending or worse. When she couldn’t finish the job with a smile, she finished it with poison which took her longer if she wasn’t wise in who she dealt with. When she was sent to infiltrate an Arcane vessel, she nearly lost her life to another dragon there. Dark, deceitful, and with a smile as crooked as his nose, she fell in love with him instantly. To say he felt the same would be an understatement. Withdrawing his blade from her neck, he confessed his love to her then and there, and they proceeded to pillage and loot the vessel without even asking each other's name. With the ship burning behind them, Axa left her former life to live in a swamp with her new husband. That's a lie. She never stopped pirating and thieving from travellers along her routes. Often she was called in by her new tribe to rescue hatchlings and dragons from other clans. Her shipments were often live, and squealing, but that didn't stop Axa. Her dashing husband Mal spoilt her often with the finest jewellery and silks, to which she always responded with a sloppy kiss and interlocking of tail, where she would pull him away into the shadows.... Their love truly was disgusting. Axa lives in the hull of an old ship in the swamp with Mal. The ship is of course lavishly decorated, albeit somewhat filthy because of raising ridgeback children in the place. Very rarely does she show her face among the tribe, as the high flow of travellers and merchants risk the chance of someone recognising her, despite her attempts to change her appearance.
