Biography
★★★ Astrologian of the Stardust Clan ★★★
xxxxxxxxxxxx |
★★★ Growing up surrounded by the dark wonders of the Tangled Wood, Mythology was infatuated with the night. It was the natural state of the world after all, which was something Mythology found completely soothing. The kind and enthusiastic Coatl loved listening to stories of the night as a hatchling. His birth clan contained a diverse group of dragons from all over Sornieth, and they all brought their own version of the myth. Nyx, the Greek Goddess of Night mothered Thanatos, Hypnos, and Erebus, the deities of Death, Sleep, and Darkness. Hodr, the Norse God of Darkness and Winter, was no match for Kek, the Egyptian God of Darkness and Chaos, “the darkness before time began.” Every myth enthralled the little Coatl, and his vibrant plumage practically glowed every time he heard the stories. His passion eventually became his name. Mythology grew up as a fairly normal Coatl. Intrigued by Arcane magic and determined to become an astrologian, he spent most of his time traveling across Sorneith, collecting as many myths and research as he could about the stars and what lay beyond. During his travels, amidst the whispers and rumors, the murmurs and stories, Mythology heard of a clan dedicated to researching the heavens, sequestered away within the brambles of the Wispwillow Grove. Giddily, like a little hatchling during the Brightshine Jubilee, Mythology set out to find what he knew to be the Stardust Clan. His journey across the Shadow Realm involved nothing that he was not prepared for. His bright colors and attire frightened the nocturnal monsters and allured the creatures born of light. Any problems that he ran into could be solved with simple spells that he had memorized long ago. When he finally found the hidden clan after weeks of traveling, Mythology couldn’t suppress his gasp. The lair was beautiful—the perfect combination of Arcane and Shadow, of magic and mystery. Crystalline caverns sparkled like stars under the moonlight; decaying trees blazed blue and violet as if they were being summoned to life by the Shadowbinder; mushrooms and fungi hid faeries engaged in scribble wars, writing furiously as new knowledge made itself known in their obscure faerie language. Mythology loved every ounce of the lair. But he couldn’t help sensing a disturbing amount of death hiding within. Stargazer emerged from the brambles to greet the newcomer. Excitedly, Mythology tripped over his words, stuttering out a request to assist Stargazer and Starcatcher in their research. For a tense moment, Stargazer was silent. Mythology, as confident as he was in his astrology skills, had never been so nervous in his life. Then, with a smile, Stargazer happily accepted Mythology into his clan and offered him a position as an astrologian. Mythology had been sure his heart would explode that day. He had studied the night and the stars his whole life, but never did he have the opportunity to work with other astronomers to understand the universe. He got along well with Starcatcher, the clan astronomer, who carefully examined every position and property of the celestial objects that fell to Sornieth. Mythology then studied how every one of those objects affected dragonkind. When he made his first real discovery—a miniscule lifeform attached to a shimmering meteor—Mythology squealed with joy. The Stardust Clan celebrated with their own version of the Trickmurk Circus. Shadow and Arcane goblins and spirits emerged from their hiding places and danced with the dragons of the Tangled Wood, gleeful in their own way. Mythology had never been happier as he partook in the Shadow festivities, silently thanking the stars for his good fortune. Still, sometimes Starcatcher’s frantic work or Stargazer’s intense stare made Mythology uneasy. He remembered one particular story about the founders of the Stardust Clan, one where their insatiable obsession with the heavens stemmed from their own tragic pasts. Mythology did everything he could to assist the two Spirals, but there were times where he would get lost in his own thoughts, thinking of what the two could have gone through to make them so…dedicated to their research. Mythology didn’t spend too much time worrying though. The sounds of nighttime always lulled him to sleep, and he once again found comfort and solace when the stars emerged—stars that were falling for him, bright but fleeting. | xxxxxxxxxxxx |
