Biography
I S O H E L Celo-navigator
{contour line connecting points of equal sunlight.}
Isohel is renowned across Sornieth as an expert in aviation under the stars. An adept flier and eloquent essayist, her popular scrolls on the identification of constellations are the chosen resource for those wishing to first learn about the art of celo-navigation. She often sets out in the perfect darkness to demonstrate and experiment in her techniques, consulting the deep wealth of astrological and astronomical maps in the Clan's libraries before she takes off. She's fairly reserved but has a kindly nature. Inventive and imaginative as her Flight's nature dictates, she has cobbled together makeshift instruments to help her in her night's work. She is Dioxippe's mate and during the day is rarely separated from him. And when she isn't exploring the silent skies when night falls, she is observing one of his tabletop roleplaying sessions. She loves to listen and commentate the action but, surprisingly, isn't very good at playing pretend in fantastical settings. "My love, what is it like to fly?" Dioxippe asked, "I ask everyone, but I don't think I've ever asked you..." Isohel and Dioxippe were watching the moon rise from the horizon from the edge of the roof garden. The clouds were too thick for her to navigate or make maps, but she insisted on bringing him out of his study to watch alongside her. "It feels nice." She mused, "You feel weightless, yet you know every little motion of your muscles effects your trajectory... Its like balancing on nothing at all." He sighed and raised his right wing, the breeze tousled his deep black fur, "That does sound nice." Isohel felt unsure of what to say and instead gently leaned on his left side; his other wing was torn and ragged, unable to freely move. It was frozen in the joint after an accident as a fledgling. It had been stunted in its growth and the nerve-endings now ached for him most every day. She knew it would hurt him if she put her weight against the joint and simply ghosted her body against him. He sighed, the fog of his breath curling into the wind. "Sometimes, loving you feels like balancing on nothing..." He murmured, "It feels so freeing, so euphoric and perfect, yet, one wrong move and I could ruin everything." "No darling," She said firmly, taking his chin in her paw to turn him towards her, "We lean on each other. We are each other's wings. If we fall, we fall together. If we rise, we lift each other up." "Such a poet." He smiled, nuzzling into her mane, "How lucky I am to have such strong and capable wings..."
