Nimiane was a mermaid. She lived in the lake above Cernunnos' temple and protected him from harm.
During her time she only met a few other mermaids, since most of them did not like living in the human world and Nimiane did not like leaving the water like other mermaids. She prefered staying in the lake and hidden from view. Under water she was able to communicate with other mermaids or the Caer through singing, clicking and chirrup noises that other living beings could not understand. Some humans near the lake who sometimes heard her talking and singing considered the lake being cursed. Like all mermaids Nimiane loved to gather pretty stones and algae from the lake's ground, and the Caer sometimes brought her mussles or starfish from the sea or the rivers which she liked to wear on her body. She was fascinated by golden jewelery and pearls. Some jewelery that she found in the water were kept as her personal treasure. |

❖ - curious - ❖ ❖ - playful - ❖ ❖ - possessive - ❖ ❖ - vindictive - ❖ During her life Nimiane never left the lake and became a good friend of the Caer with whom she played during nighttimes when nobody saw her splashing around in the water. It replaced the absent company of other mermaids. When demons arrived at the lake to see Cernunnos and the Caer judged them as harmless, Nimiane would take them underwater to the temple of the oracle. She never asked Cernunnos to tell her something about her own future, though, as she was happy with not knowing what would come. She died of old age. After her death her job of protecting Cernunnos was taken over by a shapeshifter. |
