Biography

S P E A R I N S P I R A T I O N - R O V E R - P R O J E C T - M A N A G E R Lore from the Baikonur Agency Laboratories hatchery. Spear, despite her patriotic upbringing, didn't consider engineering as a course she could follow for much of her early life. She'd always despised math, and didn't think it was a field she was willing to follow. She got lost easily, making minute algebra errors that made her math incomprehensible to her high school teachers. But unfortunately for her, Spear joined a robotics club her senior year of high school to keep a friend's company, and make her college applications look a little better. And she ended up falling in love with it. That decision changed Spear's life forever, She entered school as a general engineering major, and worked as hard as she could to stay on top of her classes. It took long nights of study. Her friends worried she'd been consumed by classwork. But Spear was determined to be an engineer, and refused to take a bad grade sitting. She continued on to get her master's before being hired by the Baikonur Spaceflight Agency to work on an exciting project: placing a robotic rover on the surface of another planet. Spear's focus wasn't on the rocket science or astrophysics of the flight to the third planet of their solar system. She led a team of engineers that built a robot that could perform scientific experiments on the surface of another planet, remotely, without a dragon within 20 light years to fix it. How could a robot fare against uneven terrain, dusty ground, and corrosive metal dust that swirled through the air in gigantic sandstorms? It was Spear's job to make sure her team's creation could meet the BSA's standards for the spacecraft. When it came time to name it, they had trouble thinking of a name that reflected dragonkind. They needed a name that could represent Sonrieth to the rest of the universe. They eventually settled on Inspiration. Here was a species from a world forged in a godly war, torn apart by the creation of a species they'd never met, then rebuilt by its inhabitants, all determined to create a better life and world for themselves and everyone around them. All of this, including their rover, came from a vision for Dragonkind to become greater than the Dragonkind of ages before them. Perhaps it was a little Arcane for a Lightning space agency. But space has no borders, and ideals don't either. ☆ |
