Biography
⌈ IALONUS ⌋
Commander / Ice Archer
Birthday Gemstone
"he/him"
"...hm."
Ialonus is the commander of the archery division. Because his division is much smaller than the war division, he is the sole commander and in charge of all the archers. He is a toxophilite and has been practicing archery for years. He's capable of shooting small targets, like glass jars and pebbles, from a distance. His skill is unrivaled in the clan.
He is independent and doesn't like being a burden to others. If he can do it by himself, he will go alone. He doesn't like taking risks or endangering his clan mates. Being a survivalist, he's always well-prepared and comes with emergency plans.
Ialonus is much quieter than the other commanders and only prefers to speak when necessary. He'll give commands to his division and explain plans to them, but he never closely socializes with them. It's difficult to earn his trust and almost no chance to gain his friendship. He is wary of strangers and always on edge when travelling to unfamiliar places.
The only dragon he has some sort of bond with is Imori. They seem to be good friends.
If there's one thing he's really good at, it's dodging. He reacts very quickly to situations and will counter attacks. Sneaking up on him is not recommended.
Ialonus knows how to fletch his own arrows, but he doesn't bother unless his targets are resistant to Ice. He carries a small dagger for hunting and close combat. If he runs out of arrows, he uses Ice magic to create ice arrows. The ice arrows are capable of inflicting frostbite or completely freezing opponents.
⌈ BACKSTORY ⌋
Ialonus was born in the unforgiving, frozen landscape of The Southern Icefield. He often travelled between clans and never had a permanent one - not even his birth clan kept him around for long, as they were unable to provide for him. He was only a hatchling when he was handed off to his second clan, a bunch of travellers headed to the mountains.
Overtime, he grew used to being "temporary" and never developed close ties with others. It would only be a week or less before he was handed off again. He was never a troublesome child, and he already understood why it would happen. No food. No medicine. No fresh water. It was always something. His past clans never hated him, but, at the same time, they could not care for him. He would see other clan mates move away once supplies dropped.
Everyone just wanted to survive.
Realizing this, Ialonus decided that he needed to learn how to care for himself. He asked an older clan mate to teach him how to use a bow, and he began to practice his hunting skills. His very first bow was poorly made, but it worked. He would hunt his own food.
The only belongings he'd carry between clans were a few rations and that handmade bow. He lost count of how many clans he passed through, and, once he was an adult, he made the decision to travel alone for a while.
Ialonus ended up at The Fortress of Ends, where he worked as a patrol guard for some time. The dragons he met there were the most depraved individuals. He'd witness dragons go at each other with claws and teeth, like feral beasts, and he'd see former partners sacrifice each other without a second thought. His time there caused him to grow cold and stop trusting in others. He was always on edge and feared letting his guard down for even a second.
One day, while contemplating his life, Ialonus met a Ridgeback named Imori, who claimed to be from a clan in the Starfall Isles. She became interested in his archery skills and invited him to join her clan with the promise that it'd be "less cold.". At the time, the clan didn't consider having archers, but seeing him had inspired her.
He decided to quit his job and packed his things. Together, they crossed the ice floes and over the waters to the magical floating islands. As they crossed the border, he noticed the warmer weather and that, for the first time, he could properly fly without frost bearing down on his wings. They flew up towards the clan's observatory with Imori's guidance and landed at the doorway. Imori went first to put in a good word for him, and he was soon welcomed in.
To Ialonus, his first few days felt like a hazy dream. It felt strange to be away from the frozen fields and the icy winds, but he eventually grew to like it. Here, he felt much more free. He was happy at the thought of having a permanent clan and, not wanting to be a burden, began helping out by hunting food.
At some point, he was promoted to commander and started the archery division.
