The sky was dark with looming clouds threatening overhead. Heavy rain thundered against the ground, and pools of water adorned the usually bright ground of the Reedcleft Ascent. Doing her best to hide in the cover of the jagged pillars, a large Imperial lay, curling tightly around her precious cargo. Three squirming newborns lay inside the protected crook of her stomach, wailing softly in retort to the cold. The female let out a small moan of worry and tucked her head under her wings to see the three. "Shh. It's alright- I know it's cold but it's almost over, my loves..." She shushed her hatchlings, not knowing if what she said was actually true. Her babies quieted at the sound of her mother's soothing voice, but with a single weak cough from one of the three brought back the tiny wails for help.

The female let out another worried moan. She knew they were sick. She remembered the exact words of the medic that she took the three earlier that day before the storm hit. 'They have no chance of surviving through the night, Mississauga. I'm truely sorry. If you would like, it would be less painful for them if you just give them to me. I can offer them a quick and gruesome less death. It would be more humane than to let them live through the incoming storm. You don't want them to suffer, do you?' Mississauga had of course declined the horrid offer. Her babies would live and thrive, just like her other children. The only thing holding her babies back was the disease and the chill that came with the ever approaching storm.

Mississauga had figured out who had cursed her newborns with the deadly disease, and had swiftly killed them, but not before she got some information of the Nocturne that had done so. Her babies were rotting from the inside out. The things that meaned so much to her right now, were dying right before her eyes. In a matter of time, the medic warned her that their tiny organs would start to fail, which would only lead to a slow painful death. A small croak awoke her from her slight daze and she tucked her head under her wing again. Her offspring had stopped squirming, and the only thing making her believe they were still alive was the small movement of their chests and tiny coughs. Hot tears stung the eyes of the female as she gently nudged the helpless babies. All she could do is watch in utter horror as one by one, they stopped moving. The sounds of roaring rain stopped, as if water had clogged her ears. All senses around her disapeared, leaving a blank slate for her to watch as their shallow breaths stilled and all proof of life fled their damp bodies.

A shallow cry rang out over the clearing as she buried her soaked muzzle into their limp bodies. She sobbed quietly, "No no no no no no no... my babies..." She mourned softly. She laid there in the cold and rain for what felt like hours. He wingtips were shivering, and her paws where blue. But she didn't care. Not one bit. As she forced herself to stay concious to keep her hatchlings 'safe', her world went dark before she even realized what was happening, leaving herself a vulnerable mess, and a failure who had let her own children's lives slip away from her tight and protective grasp.

...

A few weeks passed and her dead hatchlings were still fresh in her shallower mind. She had restless nights with little to no sleep. She was staying in the medic's den, taking different herbs and medication for her depressive state. Her clanmates would bring her platters if nicely cooked food. Her friends and family would come to comfort her and bring her small gifts. But nothing seemed to help. She still felt empty. Dead even, just like her offspring. She couldn't live like this... that's when she knew she needed to find someone who could really help her.

Heading to the edge of the plaguelands wasn't easy. Especially with carrying 3 limp carcasses on her back. But she didn't care. She wanted her precious babies back. It took her a few days of tiring traveling, but she made it. Meeting where the dragon and her had agreed on, Mississauga landed carefully on the border of the Plague territory, glancing back with a pained look in her eyes at the limp bodies of her young. She then gave a cautious scan, suddenly pausing as she came across those who she had met before. Quickly making her way over, Mississauga grabbed her babies' bodies and laid them in front of the misty shape of the dragon.

"What are their names?" The voice asked, starting straight into business with no formal introduction or greeting. The mother didn't mind. She wanted her babies alive again as soon as possible, that was all. She pointed to their corpses, left to right. "Kave, Kaze, and Kage." She croaked out, a large lump in her throat as the names of her hatchlings began to settle on her. The other didn't seem to notice or care. "You would like them to live once more?" He inquired her, getting a firm nod in response. The figure smiled, "So be it." He raised his paws up and began hissing foreign words. He reached out midway through and took Mississauga's paw without warning and slit it with a silver knife, letting a few of the crimson run down onto the bodies of her hatchlings. There was a deep red glow, and the female had to look away before getting blinded as it intensified. After the light died back down after a good three minutes, she let her eyes adjust back to normal. As her vision corrected itself, she smiled and looked down in pure excitement in hope of seeing her newborns bouncing around, or even just to see their small eyes opening to face their new world. Either way she wanted them to experience what life had taken away from them. That happiness and hope faded almost immediately. Before her laid a monstrosity. An abomination. A tiny Emperor laid, but not dead, for as his chest was rising and falling along with a loud and steady pump of hearts joining into the sounds.

"My children! How could you!?" she screamed to the dragon shape. "This wasn't our deal! I told you I wanted them back to normal! Fix them now or I'll be more than happy to tear at whatever I can get at on you." The shape smiled to the mother's frantic and weak threat, "You said you wished for him to live. And he lives now. Just not how your simple mind expected. Good day." The mist cackled before disappearing, it's odd spiraling tendrils seemed to dissolve right before her gaze, leaving only the smell of death lingering longer than his stay. Mississauga stared down at the helpless sleeping Emperor, her gaze growing cold. Without another word, the female walked off, leaving the tiny male there at the edge of the border. No more live shown I'm her gaze, nor did she feel remorse. She didn't want an abomination. She would let it starve before she would take her hatchlings back to show their father. Her great wings unfurled and lifted her into the air as she took back to her own home.

  • Three-headed Emperor
  • Three heads tend to fight and compete but they like to cuddle when sleeping.
  • Cannot speak, does not process the cognitive functions to form words itself, but can understand speech just fine.
  • Has a total of three heads, two tails, 6 legs (a double set of useless hind legs attached to his main haunches), and 2 wings
  • Although their name together is Reiko, their individual names are Kaze (middle head), Kave (left head), and Kage (right head)
  • Although wind happens to be the strongest flight percentage in the Emperor, Ice and Shadow also exist in Reiko's side heads.
