History/Personality Traits
Although immaturity is in Kelp's nature, the coatl found herself having to grow up very fast when she was young. Kelp was born for the sole reason of becoming the royal leader of a decently-sized water clan, her father being a wandering prince who promised the clan of dragons greatness but was too irresponsible to provide that to them himself, and so he bore an heir.
Kelp was the youngest of the clutch of three that the prince provided to the clan, so others thought it was awfully strange for him to deem her the heir instead of her older brother, but he insisted that she was "the only one alike him enough to truly give wonders to the clan". The dragons didn't question it and as soon as he left, Kelp was put under the care of Winston the greatshell and her mother, Leila.
Kelp has amnesia, dawning a large scar on the back of her head to show for this, and remembers very little relating to her royal past aside from who she was and a very vague idea of her responsibilities. It was with the help of Winston, whom apparently saved her from a very tragic mess, that she was able to find the Love Club and make the clan her new home. Although she has little idea what happened to her before coming upon the clan, Kelp frequently has nightmares and cries out in her sleep, though she recalls nothing of the dreams and usually states that she slept fine.
Kelp is a fine ambassador given that she loves being with and around other dragons and is incredibly friendly. However, sometimes her conversations with others a bit muddled by her accent of unknown origin and the coatl is prone to forgetting other's names or always pronouncing them wrong. Many hatchlings fancy Kelp and her ability to create sparkling fountains of water with her magic, and Kelp adores them right back. More than often Winston has to drag her out of the hatchery so she'll pursue her "adult responsibilities".
Though the coatl has childlike-tendencies she's actually very well behaved and rarely complains, although if she's really set on something she may have to be cajoled out of it. Kelp rarely shows signs of weakness and almost always appears to be bubbly and lively, and even though that may not entirely be the case, she insists that it's part of being a diplomat. Despite her sometimes-possibly-fake displays of happiness, Kelp craves sincerity from others and will rarely tolerate a liar, helping her relate to many of the light dragons in the clan.

Greatshell - Male - Elderly - Vocal Winston has been at Kelp's side since she first arrived to the clan in it's more early stages--and the greatshell is very intelligent, scholarly, even. Winston fills the possibly-self-appointed position of Kelp's "royal advisor", and has become sort of her second opinion in her diplomatic matters. Most dragon's are amazed by Winston's ability to communicate and his vast knowledge of the draconic language, though if you inquire about his intelligence in relation to him being a greatshell he will become largely offended. If you tell him you simply didn't know that greatshells were capable of possessing such great knowledge, he will bluntly respond with "Well, have you ever tried talking to a greatshell before killing and eating it?" Though most are disturbed by the grumpy old turtle who smells like he's already been dead for 10 years, Kelp seems to think the absolute world of him as he appears to be quite the father figure to her. Winston is the only one with complete knowledge of Kelp's origin and shares none of it with others, and little with the coatl herself. |
