Slaughter was born to a light Imperial who fell in love with a plague dragon. He was born with underdeveloped wing muscles, and the clan took this as a sign from the Lightweaver that this kind of mixed relationship could never be. His mother was put to death for corrupting a pureblooded light dragon, and his father was forcefully bonded to another light imperial. Despite being only half 'pure', only being able to fly for short distances before becoming exhausted, and having red plague eyes, Slaughter was allowed to stay with the clan as long as his father continued to obey the rules. His name was chosen by the leader of the clan, since it was assumed a plague dragon would be capable of nothing beyond killing. Slaughter knew nothing of his true heritage until he was a young adult. His father was sick from age and a bond that had nothing but hate, so Slaughter and his father snuck away in the night. They fled the sunbeam ruins to the shifting expanse, but Slaughter's father did not make it far before he collapsed. He died free of the light-supremacist clan he had been born into, though, and Slaughter was free as well. He lived in the shifting expanse, working as a prosthesis designer after he designed a pair of mechanical braces that had a motor and made up for his lack of strength. However, he became dissatisfied with the quality of the metal-smiths in the area, and when he caught word of a fae so talented and skilled with metal who lived deep in shadow territory, he left his home to seek them out. Electra and Slaughter became fast friends and made several pieces together. Their first great achievement was the flexible bracers for Believer's legs, that made walking much less painful for her. He also grew close to Plunder, the grumpy but well-meaning warrior who wants nothing more than to protect others from the things he suffered. His closest friend, however, was Thirteen, the quiet magic user who never wanted to fall in love, but they were so drawn to his strength of will and outgoing, strong character that it was inevitable. Slaughter is quick-tempered and fights viciously for the underdog. No peace will come without those willing to fight for it, and this imperial is usually the first in line. He's something of an anarchist, and is rarely willing to listen to those in positions of power. |
