Thirteen was called many things throughout their life, and the list begins and ends with witch. Born in a clan of mixed flights and species, one would think that the community would be more open minded when the tiny imperial hatchling started reading ancient books on dream interpretations, magic stones, animal connections, and the various uses of natural materials, but they were shut down. Thirteen took up a more palatable hobby, but they never forgot what they had learned. As an adult, Thirteen left the clan of their birth on good terms with their family and friends. As soon as they were out of earshot, Thirteen pounced back on that childhood interest, travelling over most of Sornieth in search of books and experts. This quest inevitably led them to Burst's library, which he was happy to share. Thirteen had passed through the clan's territory and staid in their lair many times before they ever made the decision to stay. Originally they played it off as a desire to be near Burst and his seemingly infinite well of knowledge, but there was more to it-they were happy to have friends who supported them. Thirteen gained confidence through their friendships, not only with Burst, but with Plunder, Sedition, Electra, and Forgiven as well. They eventually took a mate, Slaughter, the brightly burning escapee of a light-supremacist clan who was willing to fight to the death for peace. |
