Lilith is a skinless pearlcatcher who looks for her lost pearl. The search was going poorly mostly because she's too suspicious and doesn't trust anyone she mets. Ever since Pancake came along they got closer to finding it but who knows how long will it take. She's a bit of a glutton and loves gossips (just like every pearlcatcher, huh?). Lilith is an object of adoration of two dragons and what's more confusing is that she doesn't know anything about it!

THIS STORY WILL BE IMPROVED

Ughhh... Where... am I?". She slowly standed up with a major headache and looked around. It was some sort of a forest and she was lying inside of a giant, mossy log. The outside looked dark, and the pine trees were extordinary tall. She hold her paw on her head and could feel that she have a big, painful lump.
"How did I even get here? I know that I was..... Huh?!" She looked around again in shock and couldn't find it. Her precious pearl was nowhere to be found. Right next to her was a blood pattern, as if something was pulled though here. Though the further inspection she noticed that she's sitting in a deep and cold puddle of red water. Pearlcatcher quickly standed up in shock. She slowly walked out of the log and tried to remember how did she get here, but couldn't recall anything. Everything was blank, she couldn't even remember what she was doing today. In despair she looked at her paws. They were covered in red liquid and what was more terryfying were completely skinned. Actually her whole body was missing scales but for some reason she didn't feel any pain at all.
*Maybe an animal took it or maybe... other dragon? But why? Why would someone do such a thing?* She looked up and saw a croissant moon above her. It's bright glow was soothing... and it made her hungry.
*Hmmm, croissants. I haven't noticed that before but I'm starving. I doubt That there'll be anything to eat here.* Sitting like that deep in thoughts she heard a distant footsteps. She started panicking. She didn't knew what to do, where those the dragons who took her pearl?
*I need to hide, now.* Pearlcatcher quickly dragged herself back to the big log and hid herself behind a falling cobweb. The sound of footsteps was getting louder and she could hear a conversation. The more the voices were getting closer, the more she was trembling. She peeked through the web and in the darkness, she observed the group. There were 3 dragons, two of them were in some sort of mantles, and the other one was in an armor. They were slowly approaching the entrance of the log.
*Are they going to walk though here?!* She had no idea how to hid better and just covered herself with a web and moss, waiting for them to just finish her off. Though she don't remember anything she doesn't mind being killed right here and now. She just lost her soul.
"Good grief, are you sure that the scent was coming from here?" The armored skydancer said with a tired voice. Female mirror in a mantle and a herb sack on the belt was impatiently walking next to the other and said:
"You are trying to find it because you want to help it... Right?" The other masked mirror was walking with a nose a few inches above the ground.
"Um... Of course. I am absolutely sure that the blood was coming from her-" He suddenly stopped, just like the rest. They were all looking at poorly hidden Pearlcatcher with shocked expressions. This silence was absolutely embarassing, but it was interrupted by Skydancer who quietly giggled:
"Oh my goodness.......Umm... Well, you where right after all. I give it back." The high dragon said with a bit shocked voice and then leaned above the pearlcatcher and he reached out his paw:
"Greeting, Miss. You seem to be in need. Can you stand up? We are here to help you." He closed his eyes in sympathy. The other mirrors were staring at him with judging look in the eyes.
"...I think she might still be too scared, y'know... You womanizer..." The female mirror said with a teasing voice looking at the Skydancer who standed up with troubled expression and scratched his head.
*What on earth is going on here? Are they friendly or not? What she meant when she reassured that he's trying to help me?* The female mirror came closer and said with a cheerfull voice:
"Sorry for him. Maybe you could tell us first who are you?" Through her mask she seemed to be smiling and she smelled really sweet.
*...Huh? Me? Why do you want to know that? I don't trust them at all but still, that's a VERY good question.* Pearcatcher slowly sitted down and looked at the dragons with dazed eyes:
"I wish I would know that too..."
plague_rune.png
All the dragons were staring at her and seemed troubled. Lookes like they don't know how to handle this situation. Of course they don't, not everyone encounters a pearlless pearlcatcher. The male mirror came closer and looked at her bloody muscles and slightly touched them in few places.
"H-hey! Don't touch m-" She growled but then noticed how he's just very carefully investigating her muslces and trying his best to not to accidentally scratch her with his long claws.
"They looked serious but it seems I was wrong." He said and turned at the other two dragons who were observing him with admiration:
"Aside from the lump on the head, she's not hurt after all." He scratched his head and took a few steps back.
*Despite his frightening gaze... he actually seems nice? But still, he was able to sniff my blood from a long distance. Is he an animal?!* She hesitantly looked at the intimidating mirror who seemed concerned about the puddle of blood:
"I am more worried about your skinless... ailment, I've heard stories about this mutation but I do not know much about it. I'm sorry for taking your time I had no idea that you're not wounded." Two other dragons exchanged a few words between each other, she couldn't hear what they said exacly but it must have been something about her look, they seemed to be a bit worried about her being skinned.
*Right, it might look a bit grotesque to someone who haven't had a contact with the infected dragon before. Hope they are not gonna vom like the others...*
Just when the the mysterious dragons were about to left the mirror looked around.
"Where is your pearl?" He had a curious look in his old eyes. Pearlcatcher hold herself by the bandaged tummy and whispered:
"I think... I've lost it." All the dragons became still and looked morose. Old mirror came closer and put his heavy paw on her shoulder:
"I am not asking what happened, but how did it happened." She looked up and saw his serious, yellow eyes, somehow... he seemed very concerned about her.
*Why are you being so nice to me even though you don't know me?* Turning her head she reclutantly answered:
"It might be just a fluke but... I think that someone stole it and knocked me out. But I can't be sure." The mirror frowned. He got quiet and put his paw down. His eyes looked mad. Like an angry wolf. She got scared and started trembling. Did she said something wrong? Maybe it was a bad idea to think that they are not dangerous. The female dragon noticed her sacred gaze and came closer filled with a positive energy to perhaps relax the atmosphere? White mirror tilted her head and said happily to the firghtened pearlcatcher:
"D-Don't you worry! We won't let whoever did this get away!" She hit her chest with a fist, fully packed with determination. The skydancer who was silently watching, did the same with a smile on his face:
"Young Miss, you have no idea with who those monsters just messed with. Haha." The male mirror slowly got up and looked at her with the same deadly gaze. His eyes were almost burning from anger.
"...I will do whatever it takes to get it back. Whoever did this will be sorry to ever attack you. Dragons like that never get away from my claws... " His warm breath was coming though his mask and his mouth seemed to turn into a mad smile. Pearlcatcher was covering herself with her wings and put down her ears in fear. What is wrong with him? Why nobody's reacting?
Suddenly the female mirror swinged her arm above the hostile mirrors head and put a small sack with leaves and grass though his mask for a moment. He seemed confused and made a big sniff that somehow calmed him down.
"Panpan, don't scare away that little girl with your skeletons. Just look what did you do to her, poor baby." She held the "Panpan" by his cowl like some beast on the leasch and putted her herb sack back on her belt. Pearcatcher was still shocked. The female mirror pat the frightened girl on her nose.
*I think that my heartbeat stopped for a moment...* The female mirror cleared her throat and poked the male mirror in his shoulder. His eyes were deaf for a moment but then regained their usuall serious look and said:
"We will help you but under one condition." She raised her ears.
*What now? Conditions?* She had a unsettled expression and gulped.
"...I want you to join our group." The thin blue light shined trough the cracks in the log right onto her surprised expression.
plague_rune.png
The bright cyan glow of the enormous fungis was almost blinding after they finally get out. Well it was obvious, after all she was sitting inside that log for a while. All the dragons were walking in front of her except the female mirror who was right next to her ever since they left Wispwillow Grove. The thing the male mirror said have left her stunned. Why would someone who bearly even know her was so despearte to help her? She had no idea, and asking that would be kind of rude, so the whole time she remained silent.
*This old mirror is the most mysterious one, but I can't deny the fact that he was awfully "worried" about me. I don't know what on earth was that but I don't feel safe with him....... even if his name is Panpan.*
The skydancer was humming a nice tune and leading the group, the female mirror was cheerfully stepping on the flat rocks and seemed to be trying to not to step on ground and the male mirror was very stiff and deep in thoughts ever since he let her join this wicked family. Everything was very peacefull until the skydancer looked at the horizont and said:
"Well, it seems that we finally reached the Scarred Wastelands. Maybe we will find some information about your wherebouts, Miss." He looked back and smiled to her. She saw the distant Wyrmwound and tried to recall anything. No use. Again.
*Well maybe. What if I find my pearl and all my memories will be back? What about the deal?* She got nervous a bit and didn't wanted to think what will that intimidating mirror do with this. They were slowly reaching the border, while the female mirror suddenly said:
"Now that I think about it... We haven't even entroduced ourselves. That's very rude of us, sorry kiddo, hah." She standed in front of her and tilted her head, with a big grin on her face:
"Well, I'm Blueberry, but you can call me Blue for short, just like the rest." The other dragons stopped as well. The skydancer came closer to the pearcatcher and slightly bowed with gentle looking face:
"Hm my Godness, it sure was impolite, my apologies. My name is Ravioli, young lady. I wish for us to have the best relations we can." His gentle voice was very kind and caring. She was slightly blushing and took a step back. His kindness was too overwhelming.
Blue looked back at male mirror with a happy expression. He turned his head in other direction and seemed very uncomfortable and embarrassed. After a moment he whispered as quietly as possible:
"...Pancake..." It was really hard for her to take it seriously and to not to giggle but the image from before flashed in front of her eyes and made her stay quiet. Pancake quickly started walking towards the border, while Ravioli tried his best to hold back laughter. Blue remained as cheerfull as before and just looked at her with a comforting look:
"It's alright that you don't remember anything....... and don't have skin, but you can introduce yourself later, right? But for now we'll call you....Hm..... Jane Doe." Blue smirked and patted her shoulder. Jane Doe had no idea how to respond to that. She didn't want to say that she's going to leave as soon as shes going to find her pearl. This scene was so touching, and just too nice to ruin it with her unnecesary comment.
*Please, don't look at me like that.* Jane Doe hesitantly nodded.
"Um, If may I ask... Why didn't you react when you saw my desise? That was bugging me for a while." Blue closed her eyes in sympathy.
"I've seen a lot of scary things in the past few years... Something little like that can't disgust me so easliy." The female mirror seemed to be smiling though her white mask and cowl but there was something sinister about this scene.
*I'm feeling uneasy. What exacly does she mean?* Jane Doe gulped and sourly smiled in responce with troubled expression. The mirror seemed to notice her flabbergasted expression and started to wave her paws nervously.
"B-But there's more to it then that of course! How could I possibly disgust my family? It doesn't matter how long do we know each other I am willing to jump into the fire after you! We're like sisters now. I'm sorry for sounding so coldly." Blue smiled and seemed to feel very guiltly. She was feeling confused but she couldn't deny, it was a very sweet thing to say. Blue kindly pat her shoulder and continued to jump on the rocks following Pancake and Ravioli.
*W-What's with those sudden changes of... attitude...?* The pearlctacher was standing there confused for a moment and quickly started following her new group to the Plague land, which was right in front of them.
They were standing on the border and looking at the horizont. Plague land truly is a deadly place to live, one minute longer can turn someone into something unimaginable. This is not going to be easy, but they'll have to get to the Starfall Isles without spending too much time on this heIIhole. This is the quickest way to get there and almost the most dangerous one, the atmosphere can mutate them or even kill. She would be alright, despite her amnesia one thing is definitely clear - her bright red Plague eyes. She felt guilty for causing so much trouble, they are risking their lives for her and yet, she can't really pay them for this. Ravioli stood up in front of the other dragons. They will have to investigate the Scarred Wasteland for any clues about Jane Doe's werebouts. To do that, they'll have to spend a while in that wretched terrritory, if they like it or not. He deeply sighned and patted Pearlcathers head:
"Well, it will truly be my the most bold adventure, but I can't complain I am the leader of this group who agreed to do this. Haha" It was a bit surprising. She was almost sure that the male mirror was the Alpha. Why someone as soft as him was the leader? It doesn't look like a good idea at all, she had a bad feeling about this.
plague_rune.png
They were continuosly walking trough the warm and soft subsoil of the boneyard in the middle of nowhere. Every skeleton looked exacly the same, and the dense fog was only showing few meters in front of them.
*It feels as if we came across that skull fifth time by now. I'm starting to regret tagging along with them. Are we even making any progress?* Jane Doe blinked a few times and tried to see trough the hot and white atmosphere. Her paws felt as if the ground was slowly sucking them in. Let's hope it was only a delusion.
*It's weird how these guys haven't take out their clothes in this awfull heat. Those mirrors are completely covered in cowls!* She whipped out the sweat off her temple. Ravioli suddenly stopped and looked back at them with a face full of disbelief:
"...I cannot say for sure, but I believe that there is a... trinkets shop inside that skull... but I might be delusioning though, haha." He awkwardly smiled. Everyone came closer and gazed at the giant guardian skull, it really was gigantic and there was indeed a sign that said something about a shop. After standing in front of the sign for just a moment, a dragon quickly appeared out of nowhere. Jane Doe looked at it with shock and dibelief and noticed that others are feeling the same way. The fae before them had mutiple eyes all over its body and wings and a skull completely visible. The eyes were blinking at them irregularly and observing their moves. The abomination deeply bowed to them ignoring their reactions. Ravioli, with stunned expression tried to stay cool and said:
"Well... greeting, Miss. We would like to ask about something, if it's not a problem." Fae tilted her head, and responded with indefenrence in her voice:
"We rarely have this much customers, but I think that we will somehow fit. Please come in." She went inside through the skulls nosetrill and everyone hesitantly looked at each other. Blue nervously scratched her antler:
"...I don't really want to go to be honest, this place is awfully sketchy, so who's coming in first?" She said and took a step back. Ravioli looked at her and pointed at his paw:
"What about rock, paper, scissors?" He took out his fist in preparation. Blue noded and took out her paw as well looking at Jane and Pancake with big, happy grin on her face.
*Sigh, and you claim to be the ones who'll get my pearl back?*. Pearlcather reclutantly put her fist up, and everyonr looked at the remaining dragon. He turned his head towards the shop and sighned:
"...What kind of dragons do I have in my team?" Just when they were about to start, a weird posture leaned out of the skulls eyesocket. The dragon had a turban on her head and a yellow bird skull attached to her forearm.
"My, my, what are you still doing there, you can come in, don't be shy sweeties." It was a female voice and it was very deep and old. She was probably an elder. All dragons noticed that sun was fading, so the old women offered something with a calm tone:
"Well, it seems that the night is coming. You should hurry. The nights on this part of the Scarred Wasteland are truly frightening. You shouldn't be here this long if you don't want to end up as my trusted worker you had a chance to met... but only if you give me something valuable for trade... for example that skinless cutesy over there..." Jane Doe felt paralysed when the old women pierced over her skinless body. Then she smiled and winked at the pearcatcher.
"Just kidding Mufufu~ Anyway... What will it be?" She sticked out her tongue. Coatls gaze had a very greedy shine as if she would actually do it if she wasn't alone and her voice sounded as if she was dragging them on clearly wrong path. It really was a terrible decision but they need help even from a tricky looking stranger. All the dragons were looking trough theirs belongings, and didn't seem to find anything useful. Ravioli had an unsure expression for a moment, and closed his eyes. His face looked very doubtful for a moment but then he came closer to the old coalt who was leaning on her paw and patiently watching in satisfaction. He slowly took out of his pouch something so unexpected, that Old hag quickly stood up, with widely open red eyes:
"Oh my Godness... Where did you get that from, darling?" The sun completely faded, and the bright yellow light that was coming from the lit skull-lantern was the only light source on the pitch black Boneyard.
plague_rune.png
The inside of the shop was very messy, old fasioned and smelled like cheap perfumes. The mutated Fae was packing up some stuff into a box on a highiest bookshelf, while all the dragons were trying to find a place to even stand in this crowded room. The old lady was intensly gazing trough a magnifying glass at their offer and humming something. She seemed very pleased with this deal. Pearlcatcher was looking at the collection of rare berries, she had a hungry gaze while watching all those colorfull fruits. Despite being very hungry for hours this whole situation was so stressful for her that her stomach tied itself into a tight knot.
*It was the last thing I could expect from them. Where did he got that from?* She grabbed a small berry and the old lady immidetally looked up and stared right at her soul. Her gaze was paralyzing. Jane Doe quickly put the fruit back on its place and coalt went back to her research. Pearlcatcher turned her head and noticed that Pancake was staring at a shelf filled with random trinkets, and especially at some sort of a plush doll. He was intensly looking at it almost the way he was staring at her back in the Woods. He noticed her gaze but didn't said anything. She guled and said:
"Umm, if it's not too personal, can I ask you where did you guys get tha-" Pancake continued to stare at the dolls and quietly interrupted her question:
"...I don't like to talk about it. I do not intend to be rude but don't waste your time for an unnecesarry things like this, child." She tilted her head in interest and noticed that he looked a bit sad. Did she said something wrong again? He suddenly stood up and sat next to the old woman, who was deep in thoughts looking at her newly gotten treasure.
"We are in hurry, so let's get down to business... Have you got any pearls?" Ravioli and Blue came closer to the stand and looked at the old coalt. Old hag haven't looked up and continued to observe her treasure.
"Maybe I do, or maybe I don't. Why do you look for it, my love?" She giggled with a deep tone. Pancake frowned and violently slammed his paw on the desk:
"That's none of your business. Just answer." She slowly looked up with a sassy expression, sticking out her forked tongue. That women really is testing their patience. She stroked a feather on her hat and gazed at the highiest bookshelf.
"Did someone brought us a pearl today!?" Old coatl shouted to a fae who jumped in surprise and in lightning speed appeared next to them leaving a trail of small sparks after her. She standed on a desk and bowed to the old lady.
"Yes we did, ma'am." Jane Doe couldn't believe her own ears, she quickly came closer and sitted in front of the table.
"You did? Really? How much do you want?" She almost get on the deck out of this excitement, but then fae continued with a oblivious look...in all of her eyes:
"But, unfortunatelly, it was transported by other clerk to the shop in Dragonhome this morning." Fae's voice completely stunned the Pearlcatcher. All the dragons became silent and had dissapointed expressions. No one excepted this to be easy, but it is like looking for a needle in a hay stack. Is it even possible to find it now? Jane Doe sat down, absolutely devasteted. All her hope was slowly reaching zero. It's not clear that it was her pearl, but how often does a Pearlcather gets his pearl stolen? Sitting like that, she felt that someone approached her. The scent of dust and big shadow on the floor. It was Pancake:
"...I am definitely not a liar... I will get your pearl back, even if I'll have to look on the other part of the Dragon World..." He pat her small head.
"I do care for my family after all." Wait. What was that? Why? They barely know each other. For some reason she felt very happy hearing this. His Deep, old voice calmed her down. She looked up and saw his yellow eyes, almost as if he was a completely different than the intimidating mad beast she met at first. She couldn't believe that he's so presistent to do it. Why? This old man is very mysterious, but his hard determination is outstanding. His concern was way too nice for a ungrateful brat like her, who was judging them all this time. She deeply bowed with a big guilt for doubting in them so much.
"Thank you so, so much for giving me hope and treating me as a family. I will never be able to pay you for this. Thank you... Old man." A silence. Maybe it wasn't the best idea to call him like that, but he sure is acting like one and have a very eldery eyes. He was stunned just like when Blue hit him before. Was this out of frustration, or embaressement? She glanced at the background and saw that Blue and Ravioli tried to hold their laughter. The Old women was just watching with satisfaction in eyes. Pancake remained still, and coughed.
"...I am... not THIS old, you know... And don't thank me before I get it back!" Jane Doe had a troubled expression and giggled awkwardly. Pancake turned to the smiley old lady and growled:
"Who is this clerk, and how does it look like?" Mutated Fae quickly took out a bunch of crayons and some strange looking old flyier with something written in runes and flipped it to the blank side. After a moment Of scribbling she showed a poorly drew dragon-thing that was more of a doddle than an actuall creature. It was a black swirl with some green element and horns. Coalt glared at the picture for a while and tiredly sighned:
"Well... He might not be the handsomest dragon, but he surely looks better than this, my dear. Let me just describe him..." Fae seemed dissapointed and just flew up back on her shelf. All the dragons came closer to listen to the Coatl. The toxic air of the pitch black world outside was starting to get to them. They will have to leave very soon.
plague_rune.png
Jane Doe noticed how the old woman poured something to the cup, and stared though the skulls eyesocket at the them standing outside surrounded by the dark and creepy Boneyard. The coatls gaze seemed almost derisive and haughty, as if she was doubting if they'll survive. Jane Doe felt too uneasy staring at the old women.
*We need to hurry, the poisonous air is too dangerous.* Ravioli was standing in front of the others and had a sick expression. Were the toxins starting to work? He needed to fufill his mission in Starfall Isles, but pearl can't wait any longer, it could be already bought by another dragon, so... It seemed as if it was a good bye for a while. He came closer and bowed to the Blue and Pancake.
"I hope that you will be able to find it. I believe in you." Pancake gently noded:
"We will... Be careful." Old Mirror looked at him and his eyes were very gloomy and sick. Blue cheerfully smiled, with a bit teary eyes and tightly gromped Ravioli, almost breaking his ribs.
"Don't you dare to mutate into a monster while were out, ok?" She slightly laughed and coughed a few times. Jane Doe was just standing awkwardly in the distance and looking at this touching moment. It is a bit uncomfortable. Despite being accepted as a family she still feel like a complete stranger. They all look so happy together, even Pancake who seemed fed up with these two dummies. Blue released Ravioli, and skydancer came closer to the pearcatcher with a same kind expression:
"Well, farawell, milady. I told you something, did I not? Those thieves have no idea with who they are messing with. I guarantee you that my friends will help you. So, please, cheer up a bit." He slowly smiled and patted her. His quiet tone was truly full of concern for her. She felt a bit oberwhelmed with his kindness, and tears started to fall down her whiskers, completely unexpectedly. Despite the fact that she doesn't remember her previous life, she fells home with them. She doesn't want anyone to hurt her again, but she got attached to those mysterious and dangerous strangers. Skydancer tilted his head, he probably didn't expected her to cry so suddenly. Blue noticed that and quickly came closer and gave her a handkerchief. Jane Doe felt embarassed for her overreaction. The sun was almost beggining to rise, and the atmosphere was getting hotter from the steamy air comimg from the Scarred Wasteland. Pancake looked up and began walking towards the north, Blue, who was following him, turned around and waved to Ravioli:
"Bye bye, Ravi. Jane Doe, hurry up, or we'll take your pearl for ourselves!" Ravioli stood up. It was time. He spread out his wings and slowly flew up, looking down at Pearlcather.
"We will see each other again someday. I wish you the best luck." He showed her a big happy smile, and soared though the hot steam from the ground. She could barely notice when he dissapeared.
*So fast... I wish you safe travel as well.* She was standing there lost for a moment, when she realized that she's left behind. Confiused she turned towards the mirrors and shouted:
"Wha-? Oh God, W-WAIT FOR ME, OLD MAN!" She quickly rushed towards the north, right after the pair of old dragons. The warm and pink subsoil was leaving her small bloody footprints behind her.
