Entity 1: Ephemeral
Classified as: Malicious entity/Trickster spirit
Location: The Tangled Woods
Description:
Ephemeral takes on the form of a dark Skydancer, followed by deep orange and bright blue sparks. It emits smoke from its maw, and will surround prey it deems worthy of a meal with it. It won't attack at first, asking to play a game of cards. Winning is the only way to survive this encounter now.
Those who it decides to "spare" still meet most likely an unpleasant end in the Tangled Woods.
Entity 2: Itzal and Saule
Classified as:Peaceful spirits/Guidances
Location: The Tangled Woods
Description:
Itzal and Saule are two beings who take on the form of spirals. They consist of souls of deceased travelers. Physically, they are made out of smoke, only solid thing about them are the glowing bones within them.
They are both peaceful, unless provoked, though Saule is more aggressive. Following them is advised, because they only wish to bring others to safety. No offerings required, but they are appreciated.
Entity 3: Echo
Classified as: Deathly wraith
Location: The Tangled Woods
Description:
Echo takes the form of a mirror wearing a mask - do not look into her eyes. What should happen if you do so is worse than imaginable.
She loves hide and seek and has the ability to teleport. Echo will appear in front of you and ask you to play a game of hide and seek - the choice of being the hider or seeker is yours. Hiding from her is impossible - she can sense you, wherever you may be. The chance of finding her is zero. She will sense your footsteps and teleport away without a sound.
The only way to get out alive is to avoid eye contact and say nothing when she asks you to play. Past that point there is no hope left. She is only active at the darkest times at night, so travelling through the woods during the early light may give you a chance to avoid her completely.

Once upon a time, there was a horrible beast hiding in the shadows of the Tangled Woods. It sang so sweetly to travellers, both innocent and not. Those who listened to his sugar-coated whispers were never heard from again… A large amount of souls accumulated in the territory where it lived, damaged and weak little souls, but still souls. As self preservation, those souls banded together to become stronger, more stable and linger in this world for a while more before fading ...without finishing their goal, the reason why they lingered here in the first place. Triips is one of the soul amalgamations formed by the monster many have come to know as Ephemeral. The first moments of their un-life, Triips remembered nothing but darkness. It was a warm darkness, reassuring. And claws. Carefully carving out a doll from a branch which had vaguely resembled a Fae. It took a long time for the spirit to learn how to control their wooden body, long enough that the hatchling for whom the doll was meant had grown into an independant dragon and had long since abandoned them. Slowly, he learnt how to move, a flick of the frills, stretching their claws. One day, the shelf where the doll had sat was empty. Triips had finally managed to fully move on their own, and off he went. Driven by a fierce desire, its origins unknown, the small puppet walked for days and days and what felt like an eternity towards the Tangled Woods. |
