Biography

Isis
Necromancer
tumblr_inline_o23jjkWylu1r3lvtf_500.png
"If it grows, I grow; if it lives, I live; if it breathes air, I breathe air."

Isis grew up happy and contented. She met Osiris at a young age and the two fell in love. For years they lived in blissful peace, content with each other's company. They had a series of children, most of whom left the clan to move elsewhere or to serve the deities. It was shortly after the birth of her son, Horus, that the unthinkable happened; Osiris was killed by a stray attack while skirting around a battle being fought by a completely different clan. Devastated, Isis pulled away from everyone, only speaking to Horus on occasion, her son the only reminder of her husband she had left. As such, she doted on Horus until her research paid off.

Upon discovering a potential means of bringing her husband back, Isis couldn't think of anything else. She slipped out to retrieve his body in the middle of the night, hiding from the Lightweaver's sight in the Hewn City to perform her task. It was possible to bring back the dead, but the cost to do so was high. Isis used the remains of honored Imperials to channel the power into her lover's body, Osiris's eyes finally opening. They were not the same as they had been, instead dull and lifeless despite the fact that the body drew breath and showed all the other signs of life.

Bringing Osiris back to their shared den, Isis continues to work to find a way to fully revive him, working through the night until lack of sleep causes her to pass out on her notes. Despite her disappointment at his current state, Isis is confident that she will be able to find a way to bring him back, no matter the cost. While Horus still visits on occasion, she finds it hard to spend time with him. She is unable to tell him the truth about his father's return, simply telling him the same story she has told the rest of the clan, that Osiris was simply close to death and she could hear his weak attempts to escape being buried alive when she visited his grave. While she knows he doesn't fully believe that story there are more important things to worry about.

Before her husband's untimely death, Isis was a happy, carefree dragon who loved to learn about magic. Despite her aptitude, Isis preferred to live at home and take care of her children as opposed to serving the clan in any official capacity. After her son Horus was born, she made sure that Osiris spent time with them when the young hatchling expressed an interest in remaining with the clan of his birth, one of the only ones to do so. After Osiris's death, though, her world was shattered. Isis began doing research into darker and darker realms of magic, desperate to see her husband again. She has withdrawn from the rest of the clan, preferring to spend her time with her husband's re-animated body or in research to learn how to fully revive him. She is so dedicated to her task that she had not noticed the toll the dark power is taking on her body.

Name Origin: Named after the Egyptian Goddess of Magic.

Quote:
Isis has some surprisingly brutal lore! I like the nod to the original story of Isis and Osiris, with your own flavoring added in. I think it's always neat when characters who would not have otherwise even considered a certain path in life are lead to make decisions out of love. You feel for them, but the selfishness of the act is hard to deny. We love characters who make ugly and messy decisions.

The dragon herself is beautiful, sapphire is perfect for that accent, those patches of glowing pink further her magical, almost carapacian look. And the wing apparel introduces this subtle pop of glittery warm purple osteophagy

Him and her dancing in starlit skies
Following each other's movement
Staring into those love lined eyes
Not a thought about ever becoming distant

One, two, three they came
Together forming a large warm family
One, two, three still more to gain
Leaving slowly, sadly to live their own destiny

Three, two, one stays dedicated
very eager to serve his clan
Both parents alike proud to be related
No one knew how this ever could end

And end it did very tragically
End did he in war with a misguided group
She turned away and disappeared completely
Son was lost, alone completely with himself to cope

She tried her best to bring him back
Deep dark places she drifted in pitiful desperation
But what she found indeed did lack
He was left a hollow husk of his lost compassion

Veins of terror sinking slowly, steadily into her dying soul
Dancing with darkness she knew too well
She soon would know the curse's devastating toll
The evil within in her begins to swell.

In frost-kissed vales where moonlight gleams,
I lost you, Osiris, in my dreams.
A love so deep it outshines the sun,
Yet colder now, your warmth undone.

I danced with shadows, inked my soul,
Through chilling rites and tomes of old,
To call you back from death's cruel door,
But found you changed, ours no more.

A shell you stand, with vacant stare,
An icy echo in the frigid air.
My love, my life, my joy, my pain,
Bound to me, yet lost in vain.

Horus, our son, beneath his father's shroud,
Seeks his sire in every cloud.
Yet my gaze is fixed on your frosty mien,
More than our child, unseen, unseen.

In every flake that feathers down,
In each icy crystal on the ground,
I feel you, love, a memory stirred,
In every whisper of the wind, your word.

To bring you back, the darkness I courted,
My heart, my soul, my love distorted.
Yet in your silent, shadowed gaze,
I yearn for our sunlit days.

Osiris, though cold and far, you dwell,
In your absence, my world fell.
Yet, I'll cling to this frozen love,
Under the Icewarden's watch above.

In the quiet of the Frigid Floes,
A Skydancer's lament softly grows.
A love revived, yet lost in strife,
Such is the curse of eternal life.

I'll do whatever it takes. . .I just want him back. . . .

She lost him, how long ago she could not remember. Her mind has been bundled with her thoughts, her motives, her reminders. She can bring him back, she tells herself every day, laboring until exhaustion pulls her away from her work.

I remember what he looked like when he first came back. . .his pale, ghostly eyes staring right back into my own, devoid of the emotion I knew was in there. He was stagnant, silent, yet alive. Just a hollowed husk.

Isis has been trying forever to fix him, to help him become normal again; it frightens her to see him like this, a lifeless-like shell, drifting everywhere without a thought. She had to resort to. . .darker means of retrieving his energetic spirit back, and a necromancer had she become. Delving into the shaded abilities unlike the flight, she became restless, constantly searching for a way to fix him by any means she deems necessary.

It. . .It strains on me. . .the voices. . .their cold breaths slowly falling down my neck. . .

It was never known to any other dragon why Imperials always bury the fallen siblings of the breed far from the clan, though it was immensely heeded. However, the desperate Skydancer was in need of a few in order to bring him back. . .
She had done so anyway, at first elated to find out it worked, even if his body was all that came back. The longer time had passed afterward, the more she could hear things from nowhere, shivers suddenly tingling her back, unknown presences nearby her.
It's just the magic I use. . .I know it is. . .hopefully. . . .

Isis only thinks it comes from her skills, dealing with the dark, unhaving to pay her prices just yet. She feels as though they're unintelligible warnings, that she could be delving deeper than she should be, that she should cease while her soul is still intact. She continues against the unexplainable heeds, progressing in her work to fix Osiris, determined to bring him back completely.

Osiris.
I promise I'll fix you.
