When the clan was first founded, Opaleus, Aeolos, and Jayce were the first to join. They were a trio of teenage pearlcatchers who ran away from their old home, for reasons that Opaleus refuses to talk about. Ever. Despite being one of the most longterm clan residents, Opaleus is not known by many; rather, he's more infamous for being a moody, antisocial dungeon-dweller. As a kid, however, he used to be rambunctious. He would help the clan founders hunt prey- until one day, he got in an accident that left a permanent limp. With scars marring his hindleg and all dreams of being a hunter dashed away, Opaleus fell into a crisis. It was only with Aeolos' and Jayce's undying support- and quite a bit of time- that he decided on a new career path: alchemy. Thankfully, he quickly excelled at this profession and became an invaluable member of the clan once more. Now fulfilled, Opaleus became much happier (although his grumpiness never really went away). |

Considering his reputation, Opaleus felt a little awkward when Clip, a banescale seeking to remove a mutation, asked to become his assistant.
Thankfully, the discomfort didn't last long. Not too long, anyway. Turns out Opaleus was indeed a little lonely, even though it was by his own design, and Clip didn't make too bad of company. He's bright, if not a little clumsy with the alchemy supplies; he has no arms, after all. The other joy in his life is his "neice", Amren. Though not technically related, Opaleus did help raise Aeolos' kid; and considering they share many interests, the two are very close. When she was a hatchling, Opaleus would let Amren ride on his shoulders as he worked in his lab (nothing too dangerous when she was around, of course). Now that she's older, he's teaching her fun tricks and experiments she can do herself. Opaleus may not know it himself, but being around these dragons cheers him up, even on his worst, most memory-filled days. |

AEOLOS - QUEERPLATONIC Aeolos, Opaleus, and Jayce all have a queerplatonic relationship. They have a long history together, and know they can talk about anything together; if only Opaleus could open up more. He does dote endlessly on Aeolos' daughter, though. |
