While the discovery of a single Emperor's Curse Mark is devastating, the discovery of two of them on the same dragon is cause for immediate concern...and often, dire consequences.

The moment the little Imperial unfolded her brilliant red wings upon emerging from her egg, it was clear that something horrible had happened. The tell-tale marks rest not on one, but both of her fragile little wings. Had she stayed, certain death would have befallen her--and so, a difficult decision was made. Most dragons of Plague would never touch foot on the Viridian Labyrinth's land...and so, that's where she would go.

Immediately upon her hatching, she was gathered for the long journey that would hopefully save her life...if an understanding dragon deemed her worthy of saving. That early morning, Deyanira found herself alone. Totally, and utterly alone. Her little cries were drowned out by those of the birds, and eventually, they hurt her throat so that she finally went quiet. Without the knowledge of how to gather food, or how to care for herself, the little creature could only curl up among the roots of a large tree and wait. And wait...and wait...

Eventually, her little eyes began to dull. Her breathing slowed, and visions of something dark filled her mind. They were frightening...confusing. It was her, herself...but larger. Fighting viciously, against a large creature with scary eyes. She used the last of her strength to shake her head and keen pitifully.

And finally, something had heard her. A massive snout invaded her hiding place, and the little creature hadn't the strength to paw it away. Lifted up effortlessly with sharp, yet surprisingly gentle sharp teeth, she finally got a look at the creature who'd found her. A female, like her...but with spikes. Scales colored almost like her own, and red eyes just like hers. The little Imperial managed a squeak, and the dragon holding her laughed.

Valdis knew what this little one was, thanks to Erebos--who had thankfully heard her while out on patrol with Vasilios. It was a miracle, the Ridgeback thought, that he hadn't tried to claim her as well. Or, worse...

But those thoughts didn't matter. What did matter was that she'd be safe, now. Eventually upon her growth (and with her growing knowledge), it was discovered that Deyanira, as her new mother had named her, had the uncanny ability to predict any negative event that came upon their clan. Plagued with constant headaches under these circumstances, especially around Vasilios, she was granted the important job of 'doomsayer,' a lookout of sorts that could alert the clan to anything dangerous.

The resurrection of Teivel was the first. And, yet...the feelings weren't so terrible with him. And despite being undead and under Grimshaw and Vasilios' control, the Ridgeback seemed strangely protective of her. Valdis was incredibly wary, considering Teivel's need for the flesh of other dragons...but Deyanira didn't fear him. In fact, she seemed bent on helping him regain his memory.

By the time Vasilios' plot had unfolded, she'd been entirely successful. Teivel was no longer under the control of anyone--and he was able to think for himself, and himself alone. He was crucial in the protection of her 'siblings,' and afterwards, vowed to keep his dark inclinations under control as best as he could manage. For this, and for his bravery, Deyanira had come to deeply care for the Ridgeback betrayed by her 'father' as a beloved friend, and much-needed source of guidance and wisdom.

At the very least, the sense of foreboding has dissipated...but not entirely, especially since the entry of Nemesis into the clan. And more importantly, since the activity of the shade of Vasilios has begun growing more and more. She does what she can, for now--providing comfort to her mother along with Aushedar, and keeping an eye on Teivel as he assists Grimshaw with quieting the beast she once called 'father.'
