Biography
Have you ever experienced a moment of pure wonder? Watched the sun sink below the horizon, surrounded by a splash of pastels as it leaves behind bleak darkness... only to realize the night sky is a tapestry made of navy and stars. If in that moment of breathless beauty you decided to devote yourself to the study of astrology, congratulations!
Arcturus has a special well of hate reserved just for you.
A head astrologer at the Observatory, there is a reason most students are warned not to approach the starry Skydancer. Even the slightest show of naïve idealism will plummet their chances of future success, for Arcturus cannot stand a dreamer.
In his eyes, there is little more dangerous than a dragon who might fail to consider the consequences of their actions. Science without consideration causes needless destruction, and that is the motto he lives by.
Arcturus often finds himself suffocated by the indifference of his colleagues, who dismiss him as a cynic and a pessimist. They're less concerned with the potential ramifications of their discoveries, often more concerned with their own glory or utilizing the breakthrough to better dragonkind. Sometimes he can't even stand his own heritage when he considers the birth of the Arcanist and his twice near destruction of the realm. Still, he continues to work tirelessly, because somebody has to be looking for the warning signs.
When the Bounty of the Elements occurred, Arcturus found his council largely ignored in favour of immediate exploitation of the surge in elemental magic. There was always research conducted before any concrete plans were confirmed, but not nearly enough for his liking.
Frustrated with his work life, Arcturus decided it was time for a vacation. There had apparently been rumours of a dragon in the Sunbeam Ruins capable of foresight, and while he highly suspected it was a hoax, if it proved to be real, well... he wouldn't mind a tarot reading right about now.
